ACC and Pac-12 both still undefeated.
Re: NCAA hoops 2014-2015
A lot of bad calls in the ARK UNC game. No obvious beneficiaries except maybe the bench players.

Such a sweet win! Was breaking this possibility down with my students all week. Figured our bigs would make this one doable, and lo. Abdul-Malik Abu, baby!

Is there any doubt the Professor's classes are the best on campus?Jason Bivins wrote:Such a sweet win! Was breaking this possibility down with my students all week. Figured our bigs would make this one doable, and lo. Abdul-Malik Abu, baby!
Darren's Wildcats provide further backing to my hypothesis that Thad Matta is almost Calipari level as a recruiter but just a horrible bench coach as far as not getting snookered by adjustments.
Is there a bigger fucking scam than what the Thompson family has pulled on Georgetown?

Re: NCAA hoops 2014-2015
Re Georgetown, I thought they were pretty good this year--more physical, less Princetony. Admittedly, they should have tried to punch it inside more yesterday, but Utah's defense was impressive, as was their ball movement on offense. Dunno if Krystowiak's boys always play that way, but if they do, they're a very good team and Georgetown shouldn't be bashed too much (at least not as much as the last few years).
BTW, I see from the "scenario generator" that if the rest of the tournament follows either chalk or RPI, Mr. Abbey will win this thing by over a mile and a half. All of us upset pickers better hope for sun spots!

Can I have my money back for my UNC pick in their game with Wisconsin, if Meeks can't play next Thursday?

Wow, talk about shit basketball. I don't think UVA had a field goal the entire second half. Good riddance.

death, taxes and Izzo into the Sweet 16.
Re: NCAA hoops 2014-2015
He's a great coach. I saw that team a couple of times earlier in the year, and they were pretty bad. You just can't count Mich. State out while he's at the helm.
Plus, I love the name Tum Tum Nairn: I've been going around my house singing "The Ballad of Tum Tum Nairn" for the last few weeks--much to the dismay of my family.

I'd like to point out that I had both 7 over 2s correct today.walto wrote:BTW, I see from the "scenario generator" that if the rest of the tournament follows either chalk or RPI, Mr. Abbey will win this thing by over a mile and a half. All of us upset pickers better hope for sun spots!

Nice! Well done!
The Vaunted Big 12 is continuing to suck. Okla could lose too.

Tough one, Cappy. Felt bad for Trimble.
If Decker and Hayes keep it up, Bucky will be a tough out. B I'll believe Hughes is playing when he hits the court. No reason to take Koenig out of the starting lineup.

I'll be cheering for Kentucky in the next game unlike ever before. Fuck that fat slob Huggins and the entire dogshit program. We weren't beating the Wildcats anyway so the pain just gets transferred. Turgeon will be ready for those trash cocksuckers next time so consider it a learning experience.Harold Baines wrote:Tough one, Cappy. Felt bad for Trimble.

Sorry, Cap.
FWIW, I think Kansas had a beef with "physical play" (read: "criminal assault and battery") too. I thought Van Vleet should have been tossed for his apparently intentional elbow to Perry Ellis's nose (maybe breaking it?), but not even a common foul was called, while Ellis sat on the floor gushing blood. Obviously, it's hard to be a ref, but it's really weird when ticky-tack stuff having no effect on anything get called and punches or kicks to the head (like in the Butler game) don't. I can't bring myself to root for Kentucky, but I agree with you that WV is a shitbag team.
Congrats, Chris. I thought the Tank turned down a few shots he might have taken, but that's definitely the best game I've ever seen Decker have.
I'm looking forward to Utah-Duke. That could be really fun.
Meanwhile, over in the NIT, Stanford eliminated URI.

Yeah, tough losses for the Teams of Friends yesterday. Not only the Terps, but MRS's beloved Jayhawks.
Chris, will be pulling for your boys even more than usual given the upcoming matchup!

I could at least spell DEKKER's name correctly! He's one of those homegrown WI kids who seem to keep getting better. When he was in HS, he took over the state tournament games at crunch time.
Re: NCAA hoops 2014-2015
That's funny. I originally spelled it with 2 Ks, but when I saw your post I figured I was wrong and changed it!

Re: NCAA hoops 2014-2015
Arizona did what they have been doing all year, which is wear down opponents with their size, athleticism, and physicality. OSU's matchup zone is exactly the right formula for beating the Cats, and its what Xavier and every other team down the line will do. York, Pitts, McConnell, and others need to hit those 3s and 16 ft jumpers in order to unconstipate the defense. When York hit those three in a row, that's when the game started to shift in their favor. Plus AZ had a huge rebound advantage on the offense (they rebounded 78% of their misses) and defensive glass, not sure they will be able have that luxury if they progress in the tournament. But a good second half for AZ, I like having Hollis-Jefferson in the middle of the zone to help facilitate the inside-outside game.Captain Hate wrote:
