all that remains is to fix the search table. i hadn't realized exactly how bad it is, this is a problem.

oh and maybe some cosmetic stuff, but in all honesty i'm not making any progress there. i'd love to have an image on the header, but apparently not enough to figure out how to put it there effectively.
