Hm, weird, #3 seems to be the consensus fave, at least in the (internet) circles I travel in...

If anyone were to consider MMM their #1 Velvets/Reed release, I'd expect to find them here. I'd also expect to ridicule them soundly.

I was going to buy a used copy of MMM once, just to have a copy, and the clerk at the store talked me out of it. True story.

looking back, my list kinda sucks, even though i still like all those albums.

i would do a new one, but judging by what i've been listening to lately, it'd probably be 50% noise.

I like MMM more than the last two VU albums. And certainly more than anything else Lou has done solo. I think you made a mistake.

i don't like lou, but i can not, just can not see how MMM can be his best solo album. it's probably the most annoyning piece of music i ever heard. and i'll admit, that i even though haven't made it through the first part, it was quite enough. better gimme some "Stainless Steel Gamelan".

I don't hate MMM... it's rather listenable, imo. But no way is it better than any VU album. If you add up Cale, Reed, and the VU together, it's maybe the 20th best VU-related release. Maybe.

I didn't see this the first time through. But man, that truly is one of the greatest splits. Puritan were just ridiculously amazing, still love them actually.

Superb! We should have drinks one day, M². I disagree so often per work of given artist chosen but that makes it even better.

Head?! Liar is so whole and glorious.

Was Da Ist is good but talked about too often.

Soft Lights And Sweet Music: The conclusion to the first of the three slabs ("What'll I Do?") is pretty much as moving as it gets.

My Mingus choice is Antibes but we've been over that here before, and I've always preferred later Monk than the BN output.

Great list.

Ohhhh when you smile I can smell your breath. . .
