So "Come Night" is a bad one? That's a little funny...it's the only one I've ever heard, and it didn't interest me. I also saw him play a pretty bored set at Satyricon in maybe 96 ? and that was the end of my interest in his work. Maybe I should check him out again.

potentially pretty awful news.

this afternoon I ran into loren and his wife suzanne walking around the west village. loren had casts on both hands/forearms, and it turned out that a month ago, he had an awful accident, he fell and broke his arm really badly. he said his wrist was just hanging on by the skin and blood vessels. really unbelievable, he had four hours of tricky surgery and is now recovering, but it's possible that his career may be over.

hopefully he will. he said he had feeling in three of the fingers on his left hand, and his physical therapist said he should get feeling back in the other two, so we'll see. he was smiling and ambulatory, so that's certainly something...

Abbey, this web board stuff is new to me, hence week+ in replying.

Loren says he is doing well. He did a show with Text of Light two weeks ago or so at Tonic. He played piano to accompany "Joan of Arc," which he has recorded a guitar sndtk for. I heard him play piano a few yrs ago when he was in Indiana, and it was wonderous. Maybe we will all hear more of that!

Right now I am working on a three CD set of his 7" singles compilation tracks and odds and ends. Jim O'Rourke mastered the audio from original tapes, with Loren, and it is amazing, quality is superb. Some unreleased amplified blues acousitc pieces from early 80s (intended for dbl 7") and other delights are on there. No release date set.

mr, weddle, if you're still checking in here, you should try to get ahold of the loren/o'rourke duo set from before the sonic youth set at maxwell's on saturday. it was really beautiful, maybe a little long, it reminded me of the second volume of duets with haino.

really the most I've enjoyed hearing loren play in years, really nice to have been there...

Are those dates set? Could be a reason for an Unstable trek up the city, as the new album will be out august on FV; we are doing trio now, with Ian Davis on percussion.

yep, everything's set except we need a venue (tim's department, he's fully confident we'll find an appropriate one), and keith's only 95 percent confirmed, which should hopefully move to 100 percent in the next couple of weeks. come on up, baby! unfortunately, I'm not sure if phonomena is still going or not...

well, this is now done and set for an early June release. I have an advance of it which just arrived thanks to the kind Mr. Weddle, and it's amazing so far, much more straightforward blues than I've ever heard from Loren. the first track is his take on Come On In My Kitchen, very cool. beautiful package too!
