Not sure why the Redskins are rated below the Pukes with Romo out with a broken back for a good chunk of the season.

Btw McChunk was interviewed on local sports talk today about how the Browns whiffed on taking Gomer Couch instead of him and thinks the Igs are making a huge mistake tossing out a rookie QB immediately (ironically enough, the QB McSoup briefly backed up is now the Philthy head coach). He thinks RG3 has a good chance to resurrect his career under Hugh Jackson. His show might be reasonably entertaining.

First place schedule vs. last place schedule.

Here's a take I'm thinking only you can understand and appreciate. While I completely enjoy and respect McSleepy's candor, I still think he's a weapons grade douche.

He definitely has a bone up his ass about Philthadelphia, doubtlessly from having been the target of their ire throughout his career. He was absolutely terrible with the Skins but I remember him being one cool customer outdueling Favre at Lambeau in the playoffs.

Wow, I'm sure I'm late to the party on this but those Carolina inside linebackers are absolutely ferocious.

it's strange, I was fairly into college football last weekend, but it really just seems too early for me for the NFL to start. I watched some of tonight but couldn't get into it too much.

but I will say one thing to Cam Newton's teammates: dude is running constantly. yes, he plays the position of QB, but if he is a constant running threat, either an actual threat or a decoy, he is sometimes going to get hit like that. the traditional solution for NFL QBs who run a lot and get hit more than they'd like is to run less, my tip to you.

in Cam's defense, I only saw his teammates whining, he seemed pretty fine with it.

Cam Newton breaks two marks set by the Niners second best QB ever:

Newton ran and threw for a touchdown for the 32nd time in his career, passing the mark Steve Young established during his Hall of Fame career. Newton has played in 79 games while Young took part in 169.

Newton also passed Young for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback since the 1970 merger, running in his 44th. Newton tied Otto Graham's mark, which was set in the early 1950s.

Denver's home field ought to be worth about a TD and a half.

How does Fox refer to a game between two teams that didn't sniff the playoffs last year, and likely won't again this year?

America's Game Of The Week!

And BTW, has there ever been a more snake bitten player than Keenan Allen? :(

I was dead wrong about Forte, he looked great today. the Jets secondary was so bad, even Revis, I did not expect that. the line was crazy though, and they add Sheldon Richardson next week!! dunno why the Steelers let McLendon go, but he looked great today too, at least in stretches.

I hate a little more each year how many games get decided by kickers, not sure of the answer but it makes me care less.

As a long-suffering Bears fan, Forte was always the bright spot in the last five years or so. He never looked fast but before you knew it he picked up 8, 10 yards at a go. He kind of glides more than runs. Was sad to see him go.

That's easy.
1. Kickers have gotten stronger and become much more accurate on 50 yard + FGA. It is easier to get into FG range near the end of the game because the range has increased,
2. Extra points have become more difficult due to rule changes.

that's the reason/s, I meant not sure of the fix because it just seems increasingly incongruous to have kickers decide the game, like if sixty percent of baseball games were decided by who had the best dedicated pinch-runners.

Totally agree with you about place kicking. There were a lot of close games yesterday, which was enjoyable, but it just made the kicking more important. Maybe they should have to do it barefooted or move the goalposts back or something.

Maybe change the name to "run/pass/tackleball."

or they should make the kickers have to weigh at least 300 pounds, hehe.

What if the curved bar that comes up from the ground to hold the goal posts curved back instead of forward to add distance to the FG from the same yard line? That would make the FG's harder because they would be longer. A second thing would be to get rid of the PAT.

yeah, maybe no more extra points, mandatory two-point attempts from the 3.

actually here's my idea: kicking can all stay the same, but wins by less than 7 points should count less than wins by 7 or more.

As I said before, I wanted to see Forte in the regular season. He has arguably been the best back in the game since he entered the league, and I've never seen anything to suggest that he no longer is. Well, aside from speculation due to his age (which is always a legitimate concern).
