Stephen A Smith is just so horrendous that it's hard to have issues with any other ESPN hoops person by comparison for me. Cuban did just seriously mock Broussard on Twitter if you guys didn't see that. last night Broussard tweeted:

Chris Broussard ‏@Chris_Broussard 11h11 hours ago

Sources: Cuban beside himself. Driving around downtown Houston begging (thru texts) Jordan's family 4 address to DeAndre's home

just now:

Mark Cuban @mcuban

@Chris_Broussard that's is the dumbest shit Ive ever heard. If you had any ethics u would msg me and I will give u his address

Cuban needs to blow up the team. If the Mavs don't finish bottom seven, Boston gets the pick. They should let Matthews take his time to recover from his torn Achilles, trade Dirk before the trading deadline and tank the season. Nobody would blame Cuban for doing so after the DJ fiasco. The only problem is that next year's draft is supposed to be weak.

I guess that's tricky because Dirk doesn't want to do that and Dirk wants to play his whole career in DAL, but it's not like he has much left either.

Again, what does Broussard do well? He's as bad as Hollywood actors, trumpeting his politics and religion every chance he gets. But he's not good enough or smart enough to get away with it.

Dirk isn't quite as old as this guy, who it looks like he and teammates are almost all taking major cuts to try for one last run, but I'll always associate them with each other even though the ledger is very unbalanced:

I was stunned to find out that Chris Broussard went to the same college I did (he's a year older). Stunned because of his bizarre socio-religious viewpoints that don't exactly seem textbook Oberlin. But whatever. (I found his recent Twitter dust-up with Bomani Jones, about Russell Wilson's self-satisfied celibacy preen, very entertaining and revealing.)

Broussard said he became a Christian in 1989, the year before he graduated Oberlin. Do you remember a big Christian Crusade presence on campus?

A good Grantland NBA article and it's not by Zach Lowe!

dunno, the guys he mentions are valuable in large part because they both play great D and hit 3s, and he entirely ignores the first half of that. no one is a better shooter than Steve Novak, but we'll see how much demand there is for him now that OKC will be giving him away to try to cut into their massive post-Kanter tax payment.

Draymond Green replies to Kyrie Irving's claim that a healthy Cavs team would have won the finals: "I think if I was 6-11 I'd be Anthony Davis." Green's comment on the DeAndre show: "It was fun to watch."

I wouldn't say that VC plays great D though it got better after he hit his 30's. Nevertheless, I'm not sure you are addressing the point of the article, namely that players whose offense is based on getting open threes are offensively useful in one scheme but useless in another.

From now on, feel free to call DeAndre Jordan 'The Cuban Defector'

Awesome line.

Gordo, not at all. Plenty of Christians floating around, but mostly in a different idiom than Broussard. Maybe Oberlin is fuel for his captivity narrative, like Michelle Malkin.

VC didn't get a big deal, not talking about him. this is in his first sentence:

"one of the undeniable takeaways is that 3-point specialists have never been more valuable."

and I am saying that is not true, because no one places much value at all on Steve Novak. 3-point specialists who can play top-level D like Danny Green and DeMarre Carroll maybe have never been more valuable, but I wasn't a fan of the piece.

(I guess I could be a little wrong on Novak, we will see very soon, but he has not been able to get on the court much since leaving NY)

Seth Curry goes for 30 for the Pelicans.

Warriors stomp Cavs 83-75, MacAdoo 20 pts, 7 rbs; Kuzmic 14pts 8 rbs.

Memphis/ Orlando played a double-overtime game for the Orlando Summer Leaguie Championship. Zero points scored by both teams in the OT, sending the game into a 2nd OT, which is a SUDDEN DEATH CHAMPIONSHIP BASKETBALL GAME, a genuine rarity. http://www.nba.com/games/20150710/MEMORW/gameinfo.html

Novak's +/- was good over two seasons with the Knicks, and not only hit three's at a 44.5% rate, but hardly ever turned over the ball.

I wouldn't have predicted that he'd become an 11th/12th man after leaving NY.

heh, he hardly ever turned over the ball like everyone else on that team, because if you never pass, you cut way down on your turnovers. :)
