Phoenix has 4 PGs on their roster now, all of whom went to Kentucky:

Eric Bledsoe (Kentucky)
Brandon Knight (Kentucky)
Archie Goodwin (Kentucky)
Andrew Harrison (Kentucky)

Oops! Portis tweet from 2011. OK, he was only 16.

Nets are going to overpay for Brook Lopez because he had a few great months and didn't get reinjured. This is the guy they wanted to trade before the trade deadline for Reggie Jackson. Now they have to max him out to keep him from Milwaukee. A better move would have been to let him go and keep Plumlee.

What's Philly going to do? I wonder if Embiid's injury cost the Knicks Okafor?

Okafor could turn out to be a healthy version of Brook Lopez.

The only way the Knicks can get on the right track is to trade Melo but he's got a no-trade clause. Perhaps Melo, seeing how the Knicks are not going to contend in the next couple of years, would agree to a trade to a team like the Lakers? That could make for great pillow talk.

Jackson is almost certainly about to hand out some terrible FA deals, though.
You mean like David West? He's indicated he's going to NY.

Starting Lineup
Monroe
West
Anthony
Galloway
Calderon/Grant

That will scare a lot of teams.

the experts on NBA-TV last night don't think that any two of Noel/Embiid/Okafor can play together, let alone three. then Philly went and took more big men in the second round!!!

there's no way Jackson is dumb enough to sign both West and Monroe to eight figure deals (he says, hopefully), but I am certainly scared to see what he does with all of his cap space.

A lot of complaining about Ainge's picks around here. Here's one of my favorite comments:

At least they got the younger Thornton for the big Marcus/Marcus/DeMarcus/LaMarcus plan.

This draft pretty much sucked. My karmic punishment for laughing at the Knicks fans no doubt.

The Sixers strategy is extremely confusing unless they expect those big goofs to be injured all the time, which right now is looking pretty likely. It's still strange.

it's like theory (draft the best player available) colliding with reality, and as always reality wins.

is that a Stanley Johnson response? I'd be pissed too, I love Winslow even if it's a bit unclear what his position is in the pros.

Yeah. There's been a revolving door of management, but the common thread running through every iteration has been the ability to fuck up a cup of coffee.

I've heard rumblings of a Philly-Boston trade. Boston has about 18 6-foot, 2-inch guards.

From Grantland's Winners and Losers:
The Goddamn Bulls

Sharp: "You know how the Ravens manage to get one of the best defensive players on the board in basically every NFL draft? That’s what the Bulls have been doing in the NBA for the past five or six years. They just snatch great rotation players out of thin air. Bobby Portis may have dropped 10 spots, but he also went to the place where he will best be able to haunt every team that passed on him. The goddamn Bulls always do this."

Brandon Rush exercised his right for another year with the Dubs. He never found his shot last year, last man on the bench.
Meyers indicated the team would re-sign MoBuckets.
No word on Barbosa. I'm guessing they try to keep MacAdoo and Holiday, probably Kuzmic, too.
Positive reviews of their draft pick, Kevon Looney, even if he doesn't play a minute next season. (He was a freshman, may need surgery.) Led all freshmen in double-doubles, 41% on 3s and a monster rebounder.

Chris, Portis dropped so far because the post season tournaments tend to get over-valued a bit, and he didn't have good showings. I think Portis should have stayed in Ark. one more year, but there's no question that he's got a bunch of moves in the paint, can score and rebound. And he also improved dramatically from his Freshman year, so he's definitely working and willing to learn.

If I'm Phil Jackson, I'm going to do all I can to motivate Anthony into agreeing to be traded. If It takes 6-7 months, so be it. The Knicks can't rebuild properly until he's gone.

yep, agreed. he needs to show he's ok after the surgery first, though, so I don't think it could be until midseason at least.

Brian Windhorst said that Carmello is the most unsympathetic fading star in the NBA and that by choosing to stay with the Knicks, instead of going to a serious contender last season like the Bulls, he gave up any right to bitch about his plight on a team that's a long term reclamation project. I don't think I've heard him torch a player like that before. He agreed with you two that the first order of bidness for both sides is to make him attractive to move.
