Agreed, Gordo.
I've commented on my growing fondness of Collingsworth for years. And I started out not liking him. But he's the best color commentator in the business at this point.

Dumervil has been very good for the Ravens after the fax debacle that made him a free agent from Denver but NE did a good job at minimizing his impact yesterday.
Re: NFL 2014
Gene Steratore just got done making Gun Show look like the master of brevity.
"After further review it has been determined that the ball carrier did not reach the first down marker falling a yard short, so therefore it really isn't a first down so we'll move the ball back to the 27 yard line from the 26 yard line where it was initially marked down, and did I happen to tell you that the call on the field was being reversed and that now it will be third down and not first? Now, what was I saying before? Oh yes, now..."
SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!
"The call on the field is reversed, third down."
It's that fucking simple you goddamn divas!

Shit man, the line in the Indy game is 9.5 now. [How to get fucked, Hornster.]

As you guys say, they weren't always bad. According to the ESPN pass defense stats, they were fourth best in the league in 2011; 23rd best this year. But I think even that makes their secondary look better than it is, because their line puts significant pressure on opposing QBs.That he was.

Man the GB defense isn't showing much. That drive was a breeze.

Re: NFL 2014
Phew. FWIW, I thoght the Dallas play should have been called a catch.

Re: NFL 2014
At this point I'm willing to kick in a monthly fee to bring the replacement refs back. The officiating was as embarrassing as I've ever seen it this year, and that horrid officiating is on steroids this postseason.
That's two incredibly controversial calls in the first two weeks. And this one probably DID seal the win for Green Bay.

Re: NFL 2014
It was the right call but a dumbass rule that Goodellspeak should've changed in 2010.
Without hyperbole I've really got nothing
Re: NFL 2014
If the ground can cause a fumble, then the ground should always cause a fumble. RB makes a 20 yd run, hits the ground and loses the ball...fumble!
And someone should punch Steratore in the face. Multiple times. They need to impose a "Twitter" rule on refs. Make the call in 140 characters or less, or be subjected to a corrective shock via a collar fitted before the game.
"After further review it has been determined that the player did not complete the process of the catch therefore the call on the field has be*BZZZZZZZZZTT!!!!!!* yelpyelpyelpyelpyelp...
*mic cut*
That'd be fucking awesome!

Re: NFL 2014
If you want to blame somebody for that call, there was some goof on the sidelines last night who can't afford to have a cap made that says "NFL".
@robfee: How to make a catch in the NFL:
Both feet down
Control of the ball
Meet the ball’s parents
Ask its dads permission
Make a vow of eternal love

Re: NFL 2014
also the one on GB that made it 3rd and 16 at the 22 instead of 3rd and 1 at the 7, good chance that cost them four big points and looked like it easily could have been let go or made a double foul since it blew up a bit.Mo Noyz wrote:That's two incredibly controversial calls in the first two weeks. I was rooting for GB (because I am really rooting for SEA, as the team with the best chance to beat NE, the only thing I really care about, and DAL has already won in SEA this year) but I don't really want to live in a world where that Dez Bryant play doesn't count.
Re: NFL 2014
Or the PI call aganst Green Bay that gave the Cowboys a first and goal in the first half. Horrendous call.
Worst officiated game I've seen in a long time.
And I think we all agree on the Dez Bryant catch. It made me sick to my stomach when it cost the Lions years ago, and no less so when it completely changed the outlook of today's game.

Re: NFL 2014
Exactly. A RB can plow through a goal-line stand, cross the goal line with the nose of the football before it flies out of his hand, and it's a touchdown. But a receive has to complete a 37-step "process" for it to count.Mo Noyz wrote:If the ground can cause a fumble, then the ground should always cause a fumble. The strangest thing is that these rules only hinder scoring in a league that seems obsessed with implementing rules to increase it.

Re: NFL 2014
There's another bullshit call from my uninformed perspective. Guy calls fair catch and gets completely butchered. The blocker prevented him from being actually killed.

Re: NFL 2014
I'm not sure if we all agree but the replay reversal was correct. I don't mind the Calvin Johnson rule as the rules in aggregate favor the passing game so much.Mo Noyz wrote:Or the PI call aganst Green Bay that gave the Cowboys a first and goal in the first half. Horrendous call.

I thought we'd all be talking about Peyton Manning's atrocious game. I wonder if he's coming back next year.

Re: NFL 2014
I'm with Gordo on everything he said; imo the Calvin Johnson call was even worse and if Goodellspeak and his fellow retards didn't feel like fixing it then, welp I guess they decided they liked it. Btw, speaking of weird roolz, under my radar in 2013 they eliminated the tuck rule. The reason I bring that up is when Johnny Manziel was playing one of his seven quarters of suckitude, he was absolutely clobbered (legally) by the Bills pass rush, fumbled and the defense waltzed in untouched with a touchdown. But it was reversed for some fucking reason and I would swear that at least one of the teevee announcers said it was because of the tuck rule. I have no idea what the fucking zebras based it on but I think it was 100% wrong. So Johnny Suckball's career stats should be even worse.
Manning needs to retire now.
Btw refresh my memory, was it Rex or that ignorant cocksucker Woody Johnson that decided they didn't need Revis?

Re: NFL 2014
no one really said, maybe more Idzik than Woody. it definitely wasn't Rex, I know Johnson didn't want to deal with Revis' agent again, but it was so obviously dumb to not go after him.Captain Hate wrote:Btw refresh my memory, was it Rex or that ignorant cocksucker Woody Johnson that decided they didn't need Revis?
two rules I would like to change: the line of scrimmage shouldn't move after a missed FG attempt, and I don't get why they let offensive players with the ball hit defenders in the face with their off arm.
Re: NFL 2014
Exactly right and beautifully put.but I don't really want to live in a world where that Dez Bryant play doesn't count.
