Scott, after watching the Giants give away the game to AZ in week two I was insistent that the Cards weren't very good. I am as shocked as you are, maybe more so that they are leading their division.
But do you believe in them? I still don't but it gets harder and harder each week.

My sentiments are the same as yours.

Franz Welser-Most. I had to look it up since I hadn't kept up since Dohnanyi was the music director. Good to know it's in good hands since Maazel lost the respect of a lot of the musicians.
BTW, I didn't mean "Art of the Fugue" I meant Große Fuge. Really kicked ass with it. Dunno whose arrangement for string orch. it was. I also heard the last 10 minutes or so of Beethoven's Mass in C Major. Another very nice performance from what I could tell.

I really didn't think the Bolts were capable of a turd performance like today's.

[edit]Or the Broncos.

Ozzie testified under oath today that Rice told the truth, making Goodell a liar.

Again, is it possible, within normal standards of behavior, for Goodellspeak to have acted more poorly in this case.

Very impressive win by the Browns over the Bengals last night where they just dominated the whole game. Andy Dalton just had a miserable performance before being lifted for Jason Candle near the end. The Browns were able to run the ball effectively which set up play action for Hoyer very well. For some reason the line was able to open fairly large holes for the running backs against a team that effectively stymied everything the Ravens did. The AFC North is really shaping up as a slugfest of a division.

Player..............C/ATT.......YDS........TD.........INT
Andy Dalton......10/33.........86...........0...........3

Has there been a worse night for an NFL QB in the last couple of years? Even Gino takes a break being shitty once in awhile (or they get him the hell off the field).

Dalton really is a total-game bum, I think.

He is amazingly inconsistent. He looked great twice against the Ravens but terrible last night and against the Colts. He's been terrible in the playoffs. He seems like a good guy so I don't take any pleasure when he melts down like I would a Brady or Favre.

The Bengals are just a weird team; I've criticized them before for being a very cheap organization and not just eating Marvin Lewis's contract yet he got them in the playoffs so maybe they did the right thing there. Plus they gave a big check to local hospitals in the name of the little girl of one of their players plus I know they cut him a lot of slack during summer training camp to be able to spend time with her as she battled cancer and still have a spot on the roster.

He also sucked against the Pats.

yes, Geno was a remarkable 2-8 for 5 yards with 3 INTs before being pulled against BUF two weeks ago.

3 interceptions in 8 tosses is hard to do without trying. Has the FBI considered looking to that game?!

it really looked like that, or temporary color blindness or something.

that was all in the first ten minutes of the game, by the way, so he was on pace for a 18 INT game if he hadn't been pulled right after that.

As you guys know, Bayless is a fucking idiot and the latest example of that is: The Browns are doing well with Brian Hoyer at quarterback at 6-3 but if they had started Johnny Manziel for the season they'd be 7-4.

I have ridiculed the NFL network in the past, particularly when they had that worthless idiot Bryant Gumbel botching the games, as being a dogshit network and the typical Goodellspeak exercise in poor judgement; but they've really upped their game. They still might be overkill in coverage and those ridiculous Thursday games but, if so, they're at least quality overkill.

Since I only started watching pro football again towards the end of last year, I didn't realize that only the first few Thursday night games would be televised to us peons. I was bummed when I got home from my Framingham gig last night to find out the last 8(?) Thurs. games will only by on the NFL network.

NFL Network was in 62% of all households that have at least one TV set, per survey published in June of last year.

Does your provider not carry it or just require a higher cost cable package than you have?

also I'm pretty sure this is the first season that any of the (non-Thanksgiving) Thursday games were televised anywhere but the NFL network. this season they started them in week 1, where in previous seasons they started them mid-season, and the early, additional ones were on CBS.
