Thanks, Dan.

Joe, I think the logical next step would be a youtube channel where I stick my nose in a fisheye webcam, pontificate in polysyllabic "uh, me"s, and illustrate my points on Spanish guitar.

Would it be possible to get this additionally in some offline-readable format (e.g. one PDF for the whole issue or each article as a separate PDF zipped together)? I'm looking for stuff to read on a tablet while travelling without internet access and this would be perfect. I do realize there are a couple of things there that wouldn't work offline (Lutz's SoundCloud links), but 90% of it would work just fine as a pdf or such...

i've considered it, perhaps when the next issue comes out we'll package the first as a pdf and see how it feels.

Would it be terribly inappropriate to have a Surround link up top since it's l so noquam? Qualms?

Well done on a great publication!

Agree with the PDF idea too. As I'm one of those awkward people who don't like reading at length off a screen, I always print off stuff like this. Spent about 20mins cut & pasting it all into a Word document this morning - so PDF's would be really useful for future issues.

just a suggestion, but maybe it would be a good idea, to move this thread to the main board to spark the discussion?

well it's obviously a ruthless abuse of power, but here this thread goes to the IHM main forum.

which is actually the perfect opportunity for me to announce the first piece for issue 2 (aiming for June 1 publication):

Miguel Prado on Mattin

also while we're obviously worried about a quam/noquam collision destroying the universe as we know it, both Mark and I are very psyched for:

David Barnes on RP Boo

we haven't bumped this for a while, so a bit of an update:

issue 2 has been coming along slowly, although there are enough pieces in the works for 3-4 issues, we have yet to receive enough of them for one. the Barnes/Boo and Prado/Mattin pieces mentioned above have both been delayed, but other pieces that should definitely be in there are:

Mark Harwood on Henning Christiansen

Jennie Gottschalk on Angharad Davies

David Jones on Kenyan music in the benga and jazz traditions from the 1970s and 1980s

Just read the Grundy, Carrasco and Unami articles. Surround lives up to the hype, fantastic reading, thought provoking and evocative. The Unami is hilarious. I'll try to make the issue last and not read it all right away.
