How do ideas of nihilism, darkness, the self, abjection and horror play out in experimental music and performance?
The programme for part 2 of Arika 12's expanded festival is now live. Episode 2: A Special Form of Darkness is a festival/salon of experimental music, performance and discussions, variously concerned with the usefulness of nihilism, pessimism and negativity. Together we'll ask how do we make sense of experimental musicians, performance artists, cultural critics, philosophers and scientists who doubt identity, existence and experience?

Performances at the festival include a solo vocal set from Keiji Haino, a performance by Taku Unami inspired by H.P Lovecraft and Hammer Horror, L.A. performance artist Dawn Kasper, Iain Campbell F-W's reality dramas, anarchic composer Walter Marchetti's final composition(with Esther Ferrer), " " [sic] Goldie and Mattin's Deflag Haemorrhage/Haien Kontra combo, Malin Arnell and Junko. Discussion will be provided by, amongst others Ray Brassier, Eugene Thacker and Evan Calder Williams.
