Forthcoming releases of note

Well I have to say I like it
Studious Avoidance - Badass electronic music
Re: Forthcoming releases of note
Is there a book called Concentration of the State which this is a design parody of?
Re: Forthcoming releases of note
(The title btw contains a reference to Rothko who famously sat and stared at his finished paitings for long hours, in the hope they'd give him a clue.)
Re: Forthcoming releases of note
the purple is OK in and of itself, but for a recording of Keith playing in the Rothko Chapel, it's ridiculous (just going from that image, I have not yet seen the actual release). I would have loved to have seen what Keith would have painted if he had been asked, which presumably he was not.

I thought for sure it was about Narcissus...in a way, I was right...Wombatz wrote:(The title btw contains a reference to Rothko who famously sat and stared at his finished paitings for long hours, in the hope they'd give him a clue.)
You, of all people, should understand

Re: Forthcoming releases of note
yeah, that's a funny coincidence since it's been out for months. I can look into stocking them, but the yen is crazy high right now.
Re: Forthcoming releases of note
I don't mind that Keith Rowe/Bottrop Boy cover. That's the same typeface they've used before, and I dig the consistency.

Re: Forthcoming releases of note
that Christian Wolff is due in Sept, pretty excited about that. I hope I can get copies for the Wolff/Rowe show here on 9/4, I need to talk to the label about that.
(of course I haven't talked to Keith about that design, he might love it, but my educated guess is that if you pushed him, he would say that the cover design is pretty inappropriate.)
well, not a fan of the typeface, but Keith has a specific color palette he's used his entire career, and that light purple isn't part of it, plus it has no connection to the Rothko Chapel.diggedy d wrote:I don't mind that Keith Rowe/Bottrop Boy cover. Re: Forthcoming releases of note
the whole upcoming list on dust to digital looks great. wasn't interested in several of the recent releases but this, the fahey set, and 78s from africa all have me pretty excited.
