Pictures of your setup

What would you replace it with though? I'm not sure what is good for "business-grade" laptops these days... what are the best, most durable PC laptops available for musicians these days?

I'd be interested to get peoples opinions on this too.

A friend of mine who works in IT (outside of music) has been telling me to look into some of the more recent Acer and Asus models which are supposed to be reliable and possibly fast enough for music. Hard to tell unless you can borrow one and put it to the test of course... also depends what OS you're going to use. Thinkpads lend themselves to various Linux distros quite nicely, no idea about other manufacturers.

here's the most recent iteration of my setup. note the addition of the small mixer and compressor, which i have added to give me more control over the unwieldy tape machines. i also have added a volume pedal (not in the photograph), which i hope will allow me to be more expressive in group situations (thanks to wade matthews for the volume pedal suggestion).

haha.. yeah, i noticed the restless leg syndrome yesterday and put the volume pedal on the table. i'm not 100% sure about the addition yet, and am still experimenting with it, trying it in different places in my signal path.
