THEY. HAVE. ARRIVED.

huzzah. The 3 LP Joe Colley boxset, "Disasters of Self," is now available.

pictures, for the interested:

I am, as if undetected from earlier posts, ~elated~ with this project, moreso now that I am able to send copies out into the world.

the first batch of artist editions went today, the second (and final) batch will go out Friday.

Distributors (Forced Exposure, Revolver, Self Abuse, Metamkine, Second Layer, Tocnhit Aleph) should have copies by September 24 (overseas will take a bit longer).

as for folks who want to order direct from me, here is how the pricing, after all the dust has settled, breaks down. Please note these include shipping.

In the US, first class: $47
In the US, Media Mail (not particularly recommended, despite mailer and bubblewrap sleeve): $42
Rest of World: $57

please email me at vertonen (at) earthlink (dot) net if you are interested, and thanks to everyone thus far for their support.

'one second or some seconds of light' more or less justifies all of 2010.

The 'Untitled Ego Mix' black cd is the best recorded Colley I've heard hands down, Desperate Attempts included.

Yeah, thanks for the heads up. I'm only halfway through the vinyl... Might have to haul the CD into the office tomorrow.

My copy arrived here (in rural Germany) a few minutes ago - untouched by the customs, to my big surprise. Thanks, Blake!

Mine touched down in Finland yesterday, and I can't get over how engrossing it is. It feels like something you submerse yourself in, almost like a novel.

Also kind of wishing I had moved faster on the Artist's Edition...but the regular set already feels quite deluxe. A true labor of love and many congrats to Blake and, of course Joe, for making something really special.

Excellent review by Nick Cain in new Wire, last paragraph inserted below. And, FWIW, I've picked this as my own personal album of the year for that magazine (though it's only early November ;) )
Nick Cain wrote:Whether Noise’s current yen for style-binging plays like questing ambition or puerile new orthodoxy, Disasters Of Self validates Colley’s engagement with and ongoing reinvestigation of an established vocabulary. But this is no bogus asceticism and there’s nothing puritanical about it. Disasters Of Self is Colley’s most significant statement for its sheer wealth of sonics just as much as its duration and self-consciously monolithic nature. It reconfigures his vocabulary, cryptically floating a number of often conflicting interpretations through its amplification of stasis and volatility. Deferring gratification through a questioning of its own intent and its listeners’ expectations, drawn to the allure of ambiguity and revelling in the complex pleasures of self-doubt, Disasters Of Self seethes with both bracing rigour and textural richness.
