I should have thought of this before, but I won't let it hold up the comp - can all contributors please PM me their contact information so I can have a contributors list with links? Hopefully I get at least a few in before the site launch, but I'll add them as they come after that.

edit: Website is fine - if you don't have that, myspace, email, or your preferred method.

Alright! Here it is. Enjoy, guys. Thanks for all your participation and patience. I'm also linking this in the first page and will unsticky it after a day or two. I'm not terribly good at web design, so excuse the simple presentation!

Thanks for such a slick site Snailed - this is mysterious and deep stuff.

Anybody who has been involved with open score compositions and restricted free improvisation should know that in reality there is a continuum from the most fixed composition to the most open free-improvisation. Like every other piece, this project lies somewhere on that continuum, certainly *much* closer to improvisation than composition. Hence asking "is this a composition" is really only provoking semantic word play.
As I've said in prior posts, the fact that this occupies a spot in that continuum (I referred to it as a gray area), is what interested me to begin with. I don't see anybody referring to it like that - although Richard's post says it's a score, it certainly doesn't disregard that a significant amount of improvisation is involved here. And yes, I think many of us here have been involved with open score interpretations and restricted free improvisation; it comes off a bit condescending to think that others here haven't engaged with those activities and don't see the continuum you're talking about (and that I've acknowledged clearly as well). Yes, it may be much more on the continuum of improvisation - but that doesn't mean it isn't a composition as well, because some pretty obvious rules were put in place.
Though it may be surplus to discussions, composer, improviser and friend Daryl Runswick has written a short article about these things. http://www.btinternet.com/~daryl.runswick/ImproCont.pdf

Hope this is interesting.

Hehe, I agree. Definitely starts things off nicely. It was such an obvious choice for some reason. That's one of the few that I barely moved while coming up with a tracklisting.

Edit: That looks like an interesting article, nnudl. Just skimmed through it - I'll take a closer look at it after some much needed sleep. Thanks for the link.

If I knew that this challenge would have grown that big, I wouldn't have written such a lame first post... Anyway the result is really nice, and I'm damn proud to be part of it.

You may find that silly, but this release really sound IHMish to my ears, I mean it sounds humble and yet daring and... oh forget about it, I really suck when it comes to put words on my feelings about music... Let's say that it contains enough *emotions* to guarantee it many travels through my speakers.

+1 for Vanessa's track to be the single, and a round of applause for "Gutter".

We will never be able to thank you enough Steve, I hope we will all gather soon to make another "challenge" and give you some more work!
