Having a nice experience listening to a couple things at once, which is always nice.

This time it is a sample of Bill Fontana's River Sounding installation along with Sss by Taku Sugimoto, Martin Siewert & Burkhard Stangl, from the third CD from the Improvised Music from Japan box.

A sample of the Fontana is here: http://www.resoundings.org/Movies/River_Sounding.mp3

'2009' [compost and heioght] Q-O2 project conceived and realised by Julia Eckhardt, with contributions by Manfred Werder, Annette Krebs, Tim Parkinson, Olivier Toulemonde, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Mieke Lambrigts, Manu Holterbach, Aernoudt Jacobs, and Anne Welmer.
It's a great concept: a kind of Chinese Whispers where Julia Eckhardt sent a 7-minute piece to Chiyoko Szlavnics, who had 4 weeks to respond to it with another 7-minute piece. This was then sent on to the third musician, who four weeks later sent on their piece to the next musician, and so on. I'd not heard of half the musicians involved in the project, but hell is it good! A lot of very beautiful music, and a thoroughly satisfying cd (with a great booklet in which each musician offers a 2-page 'diary' about their portion of the work).
The whispers go through many changes along the route, but the gorgeous last piece (by Anne Welmer) is strangely close to Julia Eckhardt's lovely opener.
Very highly recommended. http://compostandheight.blogspot.com/

I'm waiting on that one, Simon, a good hunch about it.

Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.

Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die

Man, never thought I'd still be so into this record. "Glass Museum" is seriously one of my fav songs of theirs.
