Love that record. Tanz Debil is a grabber, took me a while to get into the rest of the album. Some of the instrumental tracks are meandering, but there's some real gems in there. I think title song Kollaps is sort of the keystone of the album. Abstieg & Zerfall is also one of my favourites... I love how awkward the percussion sounds with that throbbing, dead bassline.J.F. wrote:I've known "Kollaps" for a while now, never liked anything except for "Tanz Debil", and now give it another try.

Both are pretty much what we'd come to expect from this two... Sachiko switching from her salon de mode and sinetone on both disc and Otomo compliment it with sudden burst of harsh noise on the Filament disc! Both are less discrete/much busier than their previous releases! Very accomplished indeed.jon abbey wrote:how do they sound?

def a good spin, you can tell that Rae and crew have mastered the hip hop artform awhile ago, but definitely on this album. the production is awesome, it is also a more mature effort than OBFCL I imho.

In my teens I once created a cassette tape with one short tape-loop inside, and was disappointed that I never recognised any change in sound when playing it for a while.

haven't tried that (yet)... and actually, upon further listening, there's a pretty wide and awesome variety of sounds here, birdcalls, turntable noise, advanced computer processes (KFW mostly), industrial rumbles, children, laughter, and so on....
when I'm ready for to administer some wear and tear, I'll be playing it on a model wind-up gramophone with bamboo, metal, cactus, and other needle substitutes... I bet the metal one (meant for recording to little pieces of plastic - pretty terrible in practice though) will degrade a given loop over time plenty!
will be sure to record, and pass on if anthing cool comes of it.y
