Recorded live in Leeds in January 2009, this track is the opening 10 minutes of the first ever performance by the group of Rhodri Davies (harp), Michel Doneda (soprano saxohone), Louisa Martin (laptop), Phil Minton (vocals) and Lee Patterson (amplified objects and proceses). The following day the group went on to a recording session at a 14th century church in the village of Midhopestones in South Yorkshire, which resulted in the Midhopestones CD on Another Timbre.

I mentioned Roxy Music's "The Bob (Medley)" in the more than 10 times-thread. Now I'm trying out an earlier version of that song, and I'm very surprised how Ferry's singing (timbre & vibrato) here sounds somewhat similar to John Lydon, circa 79/80 (I think I have that impression from P.i.L.'s Old Grey Whistle test stuff).

That's not the epithet that usually comes to my mind on hearing Raymond's stuff. Is this like the rest of them, fingernails on blackboard scraping? I usually end up with toothache after about five minutes.

Minimal razor on glass (pretty sure that's the method) on this one...

Pretty much like the others, all the same familiar sounds, a bit more echo effects than usual, I think it's just put together juuuust riiiight...

Which is pretty neat, to take all your usual tricks and somehow make something obviously much bettert than the usual fare (I agree with you that his usual can be grating and even without the screech sounds, a difficult listen).

Edit: There's samples of this one on his myspace page... just him having a myspace page seems really weird though...

Yeah, I ordered a few things from him a couple of weeks ago. It's really bloody great by the way, simple, patient and unpretentious as you'd expect, best printed tape inlay I've ever seen to boot, done by the same folk that do the winds measure sleeves.

"60 minutes of no-fi drones and analog noise, recorded using only thrift-store cassette machines and old tapes. really nice printed j-card covers with a drawing of the machines in question"

just a note, i notice he's listing vinyl copies of ones hand as well. cd version is one of my favorite jerman-related collaborations, definitely worth looking into the reissue.
