I've been listening to this for the last month or so.....there are times when I'll leave this on auto-repeat due to its shorter length......very strong record...could it be I'll be changing my contender for a record of the year????

well, it's from 1973, that disqualifies it in my book to begin with. past that, I thought the music was very good, up there with prime-era Fela (as of course it should be, as it's the same musicians), but the singing I found jarring every time, that was when I missed Fela.

Geezz.....that's an odd way of looking at things? Since when can't a record made in 1973 not qualify to be a record of the year? Have you heard it back then? Last year? Decade ago? Neither have I!
So, as far as the world is concerned this is NEW music.

yep, that's the same rationale that allows unreleased Coltrane and Monk records be named the best jazz records of the year decades after they're dead. I think it's absurd.

Depends how you define "Record Of The Year".. Which reminds me, The Wire will be knocking on my door in less than a couple of months asking for mine. I think that's absurd.
