Had the following 3 on my 3 changer for most of the week, but that's just my
bedroom

MORRIS ON Ashley Hutchings, Barry Dransfield, richard Thompsion, John
Kirkpatrick etc
Been really enjoying this, the marriage of 70s electric band and traditional
Morris song sounds pretty natural now. Think i may still prefer the albion
Band's Battle Of The field which has a few of the same players at roughly the
same time. Morris On lacks Battle's near kosmische inner glow though.
This Morris stuff takes me back to childhood trips around the home counties to
see morris being performed. Assume a lot of that was by the same group that
appears in Great St Trinian's Train Robbery since driving was by one of the
member's wives. Did think on first hearing that there was input on the lp by the
Chingford morris Men that it might be the same troupe, people I knew lived in
Woodford Green which is very close.
Noticed the price of this cd rising on Amazon so grabbed it at cover price
befiore it disappeared

Extra Golden Thankyou Very quickly
Cross between Kenyan Luo Benga music and Western elements. Do far prefer the
African singing, really ought to learn the languages being sung in since it's
either my dad's tribal one or Swahili they're singing in. American singer sounds
too interchangeable with too many others.
Guitar's have a somewhat similar percussive melodicism to Television.
Much better than Vampire Weekend I think, though I still kind of like those.

Gladys Knight & The Pips Platinum Collection disc1
She has a really great voice, rooted in gospel. This goes from near doowop early
stuff through mid 60s Motown to the end of that decade. Has the original Heard
it Through the Grapevine somewhere in the middle, arrangement pretty different.
These Platinum Collections seem to cover more obscure stuff than I thought,
which has me wondering about The Commodores one since I've been looking for
their heavy funk stuff.

Front room has had me listening to
Cold Sun Dark Shadows
EACd this to hardrive so I could stick it in playlist on Foobar. Pretty amazing
lp with great sound in this version. Have said elsewhere that I wouldn't dismiss
the shorter tracks and they do deliver a level of skullfuckery almost as good as
the longer ones.
Hope those people I gave copies to get knocked out by this stuff & spread the
word.

A few early to mid 70s Zappa sets.
I like him musically at this point but do find the scatalogical lyrics pretty
puerile. Would almost prefer this if it was sung in a different language.

Curved air live set from '71
Darryl WAy's violin is pretty mesmeric. & band still has some psychy trappings
to its prog. Like this band and should probably further investigate. Was there a
remaster of the 1st lp put out last year?

Clay allison
There have been a number of Opal & related torrents upped to Dime recently. This
Clay Alison group were the precursor to them, Steve Roback and Kendra Smith and
a couple of others. Not sure what the difference in line up is. Think these are
a bit more folky/ethnicky though.

Kraan live set from '72
Nice semi psychy jazzy rocky stuff by band I think were from Munich.

Loads of other stuff as I progress through my archives. Looks like I might well
need a new soundcard since I get intermittent glitching on this computer.

A friend came through town & left me with videofiles for Monkey dust among other
stuff. Topical BBC2 cartoon satire that i missed on first showing. Pretty great
though.

Spawn animated series which is nice & dark & adult orientated.
This because I was reading the comic from the beginning, just got up to date
last night. Some pretty great artwork in that zine so there was.

Aah, okay... I didn't actually know that existed I've been on Desetxea and W.M.O but didn't know about his own one (unless it''s the same thing...?). To be honest he scares me a little bit so I've kept my distance...

Anyone heard of Heiner Metzger? I hadn't, but took a punt on this because Birgit Ulher is usually pretty good value. Heiner plays a "soundtable", which is an electronics set-up of some sort, and he's really good.
Yet another from 'creative sources' that's worth checking out.

Anyone heard of Heiner Metzger? I hadn't, but took a punt on this because Birgit Ulher is usually pretty good value. Heiner plays a "soundtable", which is an electronics set-up of some sort, and he's really good.
Yet another from 'creative sources' that's worth checking out.

I've got a set of Metzger's solo soundtable tracks somewhere in my mp3 library. I think he was an EFI-style reed player first maybe? Definitely want to hear this disc at some point. They seem like an excellent match.

Dick Gaughan, No More Forever (1972).

Traditional Scottish songs accompanied really well by Gaughan's fingerpicking guitar style.

I totally love this record. Trinity is by far one of my favourite Jamaican Deejays, and these Yabby U cuts are the perfect setting.

Not sure about his background, Heiner Metzger currently live & teach in Hamburg, co-run a gallery concert space Blinzelbar (not sure still around, they were talking about the developer will like to have the building back).

Soundtable: Heiner Metzger generate the sound of the wooden table, play around the table with different wooden objects (stick, brush etc) with a few contact mics.
