Does anyone know of any albums of music made by young children?
Not child prodigies. I'm talking about kids just having a good old time banging on whatever they can find, making the rules up as they go along.

she sampled them,well, 'redid" that song for her last album, which was really awful like most M.I.A. (not to say i don't like a handful of tracks and i won't deny paper planes power, though thats a different topic)

music played by adults and sung by children is kind of lame

There have been a bunch of portland bands comprising of girls who have been through the girls rock camp here in town.. I think a few have even toured, being driven around by their parents.. very.. portland.. for some reason (HANGOVER) I can't remember any names for em..

BUT..

a few kid-punk favorites:

THE PRATS (their first 7" is real good, the rest not so much...)
COB-RA (only did a split 7" with John Wiese, but is fantastic. the lyrics are VERY anti-social and pretty.. out there..)

As a class-teacher I spent the last week of school before Christmas break playing a lot of music. We recorded carols, but also spent some hours playing conducted improvisation pieces, everyone taking turns at being conductors. We had a good range of instruments - 2 pianos (concert-pitch and prepared) cello, double bass, several violins, guitar, tuned and untuned percussion etc.

The best results (listening-wise) were with two groups of four, each group made of 3 players/one conductor, then a 'master conductor' controlling when the two groups could play, whether one at a time or both together. Conduction gestures were simple 'point-you play', with simple gestures given for dynamics. The idea came from one Augusto Boal's theatre games; I find a lot of these (and other's - Keith Johnstone, Viola Spolin) are easily adapted to musical pursuits and appeal to children very much - as well as being ultimately listenable when caught on tape.
