white heaven is pretty essential, are you saying you only have random tracks and not albums?

also look into his albums with damon & naomi.

i have no white heaven albums

whats was weird about watching damon & naomi last night is that galaxie 500 is one of my favorite bands, but i couldnt really get in to it. (i hadnt heard any d&n before last night.) i mean, it wasnt bad, but it also didnt seem all that interesting. though mk was a nice addition live.

the new solo record "sunset notes" on d and n's 20|20|20 label kinda shreds, really laid back west coast instrumental psyche. i think it will be interesting to see him and d and n with the nmperign horns here in boston next week (and helen from espers on cello)...and boris...and kfw also on the bill.

The Stars are worth listening to. Not that lame-ass pop band of the same name minus the 'The,' I'm talking about the band Michio's in.

I was at this same show (@ the Earl), and I felt the same way. Not that Galaxie 500 has ever really been one of my favorite bands, but D & N were seriously boring. Even with Kurihara, I found them really tiresome.

But, yeah, he was amazing to watch. Him + Boris =

I especially loved when they played that one bassy track from Rainbow early on in their set where his solo just tears through the song. It had just the same dynamic as the album only much, much better live.

Sunset Notes is pretty good. You most likely heard Boris play the opening track at the gig.

Damon and Naomi with Ghost particularly highlights some of Kurihara's talent. I saw Boris and Kurihara this past Saturday. Caught the Damon and Naomi opener too. Was mostly uninterested until they let Kurihara really go.

If you don't have Ghost's Hypnotic Underworld, definitely get it. Probably THE Ghost album where he really shines.

kurihara is generally a very restrained player..his stuff in ghost isnt as far out as some of the stuff on the album with boris..if you want the intense stuff white heaven "out" is good and also the marble sheep discs he plays on are great. and his "sunset notes" disc is really great though not a "burner" per say.
