Urs Leimgruber (sax); Jacques Demierre (piano); Barre Phillips (bass) - Wing Vane

Really a fantastic trio, reminds me of the microscopic detail and concentration of the John Butcher/John Russell/Phil Durrant trio. A variety of different approaches, from almost-silent bass rattling and scraping and skittery fragments to Demierre's Webern-esque chords and sustained lyrical lines from Leimgruber. The sombre middle section (Distance) particularly is devastating.

Yo, SLY! Haven't heard that one for a while.. Two nights ago it was Ashford & Simpson Gimme Something Real, Chaka Khan Whatcha Gonna Do For Me and a selection of old Hi LPs by Al Green, Syl Johnson and Willie Mitchell.
Last night it was the fabulous Thomas Lehn / Melvyn Poore / Frank Gratkowski on Leo (and it's not often I say that about Leo albums).
And then Rafael Toral live, but that's another story
