He wasn't Michael Jordan but he had an impact on every game he played; you just couldn't be confident taking it to the rack with him in there. He also is second in blocks per game for his career, which puts him ahead of a lot of HOFers.

A truly generous person; I hope he didn't suffer too much in the end because Stevens-Johnson syndrome sounds extremely painful.

Bol was fun to watch. 9 feet tall with a 30 foot wingspan, he could pretty much block shots from the perimeter while standing in the paint.

Always came across as a class act to me as well, Cappz.

I'm guessing he was the only player from the University of Bridgeport to play in the NBA. As low key a guy as one could be at 7 1/2 feet tall.

I saw him at Boston Garden once with a team that also featured Muggsy Bogues. It might have looked a little like a circus act, but the thing is, both of those guys could actually play at a pretty high level.

My Dad took me to a Washington Bullets game when I was a kid, the first NBA game I ever went to. I remember watching them standing next to each other in the pre-game shoot around. At the time it impressed me by making me think that a person of any size could play basketball...I had no idea how rare that was.

I remember watching him on TV and just being mesmerized by how absurdly tall and wiry he looked. By all accounts a kind, generous, gentle giant. RIP
