with all of the bad news in the world, here's something extremely exciting to perk up your day. DING DONG, THE WITCH IS DEAD!

"Billy Packer has called his last Final Four, according to a report in Monday's Miami Herald.

CBS is expected to announce Packer, who has called 34 consecutive Final Fours, will be replaced by Clark Kellogg after 28 years with the network.

Jim Nantz will stay on as the other half of the lead team.

The paper says Packer confirmed the move through a CBS rep Sunday night and is leaving to pursue other basketball opportunities.

He drew criticism during this year's semifinals when he said the game was over after Kansas jumped out to a big early lead. He also caused a stir when he ranted about the inclusion of mid-majors in the NCAA tourney in 2006."

Hard to say if either of these were the deciding factor but the first one pissed off the sponsors and the second one called into question the judgement of the NCAA lowlife knobs, both of which are major sacred cows. The real problem was that Packer was a bitter crank who didn't even enjoy the game anymore and would obsess on trivial shit to try and make himself look insightful. Here's hoping that CBS sends Nantzy-boy packing since he understands nothing about the game. Repeat after me: Gus Johnson!!!!
