not a big fan, but I do like watching Tiger, especially at the majors.

second round of the US Open today, he was 3 over for the tournament through 9 holes, then shot a 30 on the last nine holes, 5 under par, to pull within one shot of the lead with two days left. pretty remarkable, I wish I'd seen it.

Well, you can catch today's 3rd round on your local NBC station...

second day in a row I've kept an eye on him along with other things and missed the sick run at the end. Sportscenter's top 10 tonight is Tiger's best 10 shots ever at majors, I believe two from today.

man, he couldn't have played much worse down the stretch, and still he holed that putt for a playoff. refuse to lose, indeed.

As he was preparing to make that final putt, I realized that I couldn't even imagine him missing it.

He'll win by at least three strokes today.

"Thanks for playing, Rocco. Jean will describe your wonderful parting gifts...."

I'm certainly not betting on a journeyman to beat Tiger, but there's definitely the possibility of the knee stiffening up and creating a problem for him. He's been erratic as hell. The real question is Mediate's mindset, because he could tense up from the situation, or he could realize that there's no pressure on him, and that if he just relaxes and plays, he could win.

If the line is Tiger -3 strokes, I'd take Rocco.

not that it's necessarily true, but Mediate said at his press conference last night that he gave all he had out there on Sunday and he had nothing left. and playing right next to Tiger seems to be hard for anyone to deal with, but of course the knee is a factor, as Borat said.

Generally with Golf I try and get behind any players that don't have utterly ridiculous names. I gave up trying for this play-off.

You're reading a lot into a 12 word sentence, most of which is not there. I readily concede that he's very good and that for the powers that be for golf, he's raised the elevation of the sport. But, as MRS posted, the nut-hugging that goes on from people that otherwise couldn't give a tinker's damn about golf is somewhat disgusting. The media ballwash is typically over-the-top. Plus anything that's good for Nike (Just Go Fuck Yourself) is bad for me.

Ahh well...I don't really pay any attention to the game at all anymore. My father was a fanatic golfer (he had a handicap of 3 ) and a big part of my childhood seemed to be spent on one golf course or another. I never became a good enough player.. What I know about Woods ( it's very little actually ) leaves me with an appreciation of his athleticism. I don't know what the media spews ( except headlines..unavoidable )

If I never spend another minute watching a golf game, I'd be happy..

I appreciate Tiger's greatness, but I was rooting hard for Rocco today. I don't root for him to fail, except in a situation like this with a likeable underdog journeyman in a head-to-head situation.

I so rarely watch golf, but I watched all 19 today. Good drama, certainly.
