the Yankees' possible lineup once Judge is back in a few days, now that they have also added AL HR leader Encarnacion (numbers from a few days ago):
LeMahieu (#1 in MLB currently with a .466 BA with RISP)
Judge (52 HRs in 2017)
Stanton (59 HRs in 2017)
Sanchez (2nd in the AL this year with 20 HRs)
Encarnacion (1st in the AL this year with 21 HRs)
Voit (1st in the AL with 31 HRs since taking NY's 1B job last Aug 24)
Hicks (27 HRs in 2018)
Gregorius (27 HRs in 2018)
Torres (39 HRs since debuting at 21 last April)
they have had so many huge injuries already, it is a real tribute to the depth Cashman built that they are somehow in 1st place anyway. if you asked people on March 1 who NY's best SP and reliever were, the most common answers would be Severino and Betances, neither of whom has thrown a pitch for NY this year and neither of whom is close to back still. Judge, Stanton, Andujar, Didi and Hicks combined for 146 HRs last year and have just 10 so far this year, just 260 combined PAs coming into tonight.
anyway, there are other teams that are crazy loaded, Houston (coming to Yankee Stadium this weekend), the Dodgers, and a bunch of other very good ones, but Cashman continues to improve the organization's personnel all the time. they were sellers in Aug 2016 and have put an almost entirely new team in place since then, and on July 2 they will sign the top international prospect, 16 year old Dominican CF Jasson Dominguez, who is raved about here:
“The 2019 class saw its first headlines when Dominican shortstop Robert Puason was barred from signing with the Braves due to an illegal side deal. Puason hit the market again, and we’ve reported for awhile that he’s expected to sign with Oakland for close to their full pool (around $5 million). At the time, Puason was seen as the best July 2nd prospect in years, and some still see him that way, but the consensus seems to have shifted, and Dominican center fielder Jasson Dominguez, expected to sign for about $5 million with the Yankees, is now the top 2019 prospect.
Scouts throw around some big names when trying to wrap their arms around Dominguez’s package of tools: Yasiel Puig, Bo Jackson, and Yoan Moncada are the most common ones. Dominguez runs the 60-yard dash in anywhere from 6.19 to 6.30 seconds, and is a 70 or 80 runner depending on whom you ask. His frame (5-foot-11, 194 pounds, sculpted like a Greek god), easy plus arm, and quick feet are catching-friendly, and scouts that have seem him try the position say he could probably do it full-time, but it sounds like most evaluators (and likely the Yankees) will develop him in center field to let his bat move more quickly. Some scouts think Dominguez’s hands could work in the infield, but he has very few reps there.
The bat speed and power are obvious, so optimistic scouts see a plus hitter with at least plus raw power and plus game power. Dominguez has already hit some balls 110 mph in batting practice, and his righty swing has now caught up with his natural lefty swing in terms of contact traits. He has a hitting warm-up that includes front toss with softballs and heavily weighted bats before he takes on-field BP.”

Giants rookie reliever in the game now is Tyler Rogers, first submarine ball pitcher I've seen in years and years, releases the ball about 8" from the ground, curveballs rise on the batter. Pretty cool to watch!

He may have a difficult time next season when the three batter minimum rule for pitchers goes into effect. Headed up to Cincinnati for a Mets game later today - missed DeGrom by one start - blast! First time I'll be in the outfield in all these years of going up to see the Mets and Brewers in Cincy, but the Seven Line Army fan group had a ticket package, so it'll be fun at least being with a bunch of other Mets fans.
My #1 team is Milwaukee and it's been a great recent tear without Yelich. That was devastating and, to be realistic, no one has much of a shot against LA or Atlanta, but that's doubly evident without Yelich. That said, I love knowing there's a chance that the Cubs and Cardinals beat each other up over 5 remaining games now and we sneak away with the division. The way the Cubs are playing (without Baez and Rizzo to be fair) makes it seem more likely that the Cubs will just get smacked down and out of the playoffs though. Glad to be in it and to even be considering whether I drive up to Milwaukee for a game if we can get in the position to host a game. I really shouldn't, but going up for the game 7 against the Dodgers last NLCS, as painful as the result was, was really special.
