Re: NBA 2010 offseason
some good points Bo - however there are 4 players on Boston who are better than anyone else besides Lebron on Cleveland
despite the fact that the old Big Three are not what they were 2 years ago
nobody on the Cavs could deal with Rondo and Tony Allen was the best player off the bench for either team
Did Lebron tank it?
don't know - seems extreme but he sure looked disinterested compared to the way he usually powers through everyone when things get tough
I was waiting for the C's to lose to post so maybe I will post again after today's game...

If you want to bet that Cleveland loses Lebron to free agency (go short) you either win 32 (if he leaves) or lose 68 (100-32,if he stays). If you bet the Lebron stays, you lose 37 if he leaves but win 63 (100-37) if he stays. In non-betting terms, Lebron's chances of staying are between 32% and 37%, split the difference and you get 34.5%.
The 32 37 resembles a financial market quote, "32 bid 37 offer." The +170 is a traditional betting line for the long side of the market. In the first line, it signifies that one can pay $100 and get back $170 to bet the Lebron stays in Cleveland. The last column really can be ignored. I was cutting and pasting but if I wasn't lazy, I would have deleted that column.
Bottom line- take the average of the bid and offer and come up with one number, which represents the market likelihood that Lebron goes to a particular city.
Cleveland 34.5
New York 23.5

Bo, I hope you watch the entire Orlando-Boston series because I'd like to see after the series if you agree with my contention that Stan Van Gundy is a top tier coach whereas Doc Rivers is just average.

Re: NBA 2010 offseason
I think I'd place Doc slightly higher than Gordo does; I think he manages the talent he has available pretty well and always has. I'm not sure if the Magic series will provide an accurate barometer of that but it's always going to be a subjective judgement anyway.

I already agree for the most part.... I just think in general Van Gundy is grating and not as like-able as Doc. That's probably my personal bias coming through.....because honestly, who can trust a guy with that kind of Mustache? The G Man wrote:Bo, I hope you watch the entire Orlando-Boston series because I'd like to see after the series if you agree with my contention that Stan Van Gundy is a top tier coach whereas Doc Rivers is just average.
But yeah, I'm interested in the next series. I think Boston may take a couple of games because Orlando hasn't really played in a game with real playoff speed and intensity yet, but I think Orlando will be the superior team.

Re: NBA 2010 offseason
They stunk, today, particularly Howard. Boston didn't let Orlando whip the ball around for open three's. If Barnes' back doesn't get better before game two and even if it does, Van Gundy should consider going small with Carter at the 3 and Redick starting and guarding Allen.BoBetter wrote:I already agree for the most part.... There are a bunch of stories today reporting that Wesley is trying to package Lebron and Calipari to the Nets, Clippers and Bulls.BoBetter wrote:Everyone please take the time to read this article. And remember that this was written IN 2007!![]()

Re: NBA 2010 offseason
not so much talk about it, but tonight's lottery is HUGE for the franchises involved, NJ particularly. John Wall is a likely top 10-15 player in the league, and if NJ could get him, their chances of getting LeBron go decidedly up (not to mention the Calipari connection).

Calvin may not be the most honorable person in the world regarding "personal matters" but that audio is flat out hilarious. Mr Fannnnntastic has to be raging at everybody at ESPN about this: "Not one more fucking word about this or everything goes to TNT". Which would be a win/win for me.jon abbey wrote:Calvin Murphy says that the Delonte/Gloria James rumors are "absolutely true", FWIW:

I can't even stand to look at Delonte West. The guy disturbs me in a way I can't pinpoint.

Oh my god I knew this store. I bought my cleats for little league there, and all throughout grade school. There's a possibility I might have met this guy growing up in Cherry Hill. The story begins in the early 1980s at Pro Shoes, a lunchbox-sized store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey,

I can pinpoint it. He's a creepy troll with jail tattoos.
Re: NBA 2010 offseason
I guess I'm missing something. If I'm an NBA star who has women throwing themselves at me, what the hell am I doing fucking around with LeBron James' Mom?

Re: NBA 2010 offseason
The amount of rumor and speculation that is going on right now is starting to make me want to poke my eye-balls out.
I'm trying hard to not read all this shit, but it's hard not to.
I've already resigned to the fact that he's leaving, but I still can't get rid of the tiny little ting of hope that he'll stay.
I can't believe this is going to go on for another month and a half.
What's worse is that there aren't many coaches available that I would be psyched about even if he did stay and they fired Mike Brown.
