Portland I believe has lost/traded five of their top six guys from last year, only Lillard is still there.

DLee going to Boston! We get Gerald Wallace, who will probably be right behind Kuzmic in the rotation.

I was kind of surprised that Marc Gasol decided to stay in Memphis for 5 more years.

why? he grew up (went to high school) there, he made it pretty clear months ago he was happy there and didn't really want to test the waters elsewhere.

Wallace will be waived under the stretch provision. Good trade for both teams.

GS will be a little worse next season. Regression to the mean and no Gentry. SA and Cleveland will both be better.
Pelton says the Warriors could end up saving $35M in salary plus penalties by making this trade.

I read they were keeping Wallace, not that it matters much either way basketball-wise. man, I loved that guy in his prime.

interestingly, David West took less money to go to SA than WAS or GS (!!!) offered him.

Maybe. They'll also have another season + 4 successful playoff rounds of experience under their belt, and for a young team that could mean a lot. Plus, as we saw last year, these players are still maturing and getting better. Only Bogut of the starting five has reached their full potential, and Ezeli makes five. I think they'll be better, even though last season will be a hard act to follow.

Because I've been to Memphis several times.

I'm not sure that either Splash Brother will improve in the regular season though Klay could have a much better playoffs. Barbosa, Iggy, Bogut and Speights may all decline next year. I only see Green, Barnes and Ezeli as rotation players who haven't reached their peak. The Warriors have a chance to repeat but I don't think they will win 67 and they are only the third favorite to win it all in the early betting lines. That seems right to me.

Curry and Thompson have stepped up their games every year. I see no reason to think next year will be different.

I'm betting in Reno if I'm betting. I wouldn't want to take advantage of Gordon, especially of an idea as weak as thinking that Steph and Klay have peaked. You guys ain't seen nothing yet!

I wouldn't want to bet against Curry, who is my favorite player in the league but he had a huge performance jump at age 26 to MVP of the league. There's much more room to go down than up from such a high level. I think Harden also just had his best season. The scary thing is that Anthony Davis, age 22 is going to improve! Alvin Gentry wants him to develop a three point shot. I hope NO can build a team around him. It won't be easy unless he gets injured and misses a season while they repeat the Robinson/Duncan thing. Davis has to play another six seasons in NO so there's a chance he may have a parallel playoff path to Kevin Garnett. NO projects to be a low rung playoff team for the foreseeable future.

He'll be a perfect fit in Pop's system and have a good chance of being a major contributor on a championship team. With as much money as is being tossed around I think he made a wise decision.

Betting against Gordo is usually a mistake.

Except when it's Walto, who has had my number so far.

Not sure if I've mentioned this 1,000 times yes, so here goes: Nobody has won a sports bet off me in decades except walto. Avoid wagering with him at all costs.

Too much money, not enough player. I just don't see any bright spots in the near future for this team.

good Q and A with new OKC coach Billy Donovan:

http://espn.go.com/blog/okc-thunder/pos ... ly-donovan

I would say something like "you have no idea how happy I would be if this team could knock the Spurs out of next year's playoffs", but of course you guys know exactly how happy I would be.
