Teixeira to the Angels. Kotchman scratched from the Angels' lineup, so he must be part of it.

Edit: Yeah, Kotchman and 24-year old RHP Stephen Marek, it looks like. Converted to a reliever this year, he's been playing in AA ball.

NY has 10 games left against the Angels, goddammit. it'll be interesting to see if they can sign him in the offseason...

Teixeira 377AB 63R 106H 25Doubles 20HR 77RBI 65BB 69K .281 .389 .507

Kotchman 368AB 46R 106H 24Doubles 11HR 52RBI 18BB 23K .288 .328 .443

The question is whether Kotchman will develop the patience and power that Teixeira already has. He might.

that's not really the question, Boras will take him to free agency regardless. LA is trying to win it this year, and if they lose Teixeira as a free agent, they'll take the draft choices and use Kendry Morales next year.

Atlanta evidently asked for Youkilis and Hansen first, but were turned down.

If. I think they're more likely to let KRod and Figgins walk and try to sign Teix.

it doesn't matter that much what they want, there are going to be a lot of people after Teixeira. Baltimore has the inside track until I hear otherwise.

By now you've probably heard otherwise. He's gone to the Angels.

in the offseason, dude, read the whole thread before you post.

so funny: Lackey has a no-hitter going in the 7th at Fenway, Manny grounds to third and would have had a good chance at an infield hit except he jogged down the line and was thrown out.

Matt Holliday has 16 RBI on the road this year (46 at home).

Alexi Casilla possibly out for the year with a torn thumb tendon, which is a significant blow to Minnesota's offense. Nice to see some signs of life from Gomez. Loved that broken-bat Swisher home run, too.

Doug Davis perfect through 6 2/3 in San Diego before the Giles single breaks it up.

Strangest thing I've seen in some time, in the Giants-Dodgers game. 1-0 Dodgers, man on 1st and 2 outs. Casey blake gets a hit to left, which hops into Fred Lewis' glove, but then bounces out of it, onto the ledge separating the stands from the field. It bounces on this ledge, doesn't touch anyone, and starts to bounce over towards the first row of fans when Lewis grabs it. Loney for some reason is waved home, but Lewis makes a perfect throw and gets him easily. Except, they rule that it's a 2-base error because it was in the stands, even though no one touched it and it was more accurately "over the stands", and for about a half second in total. So, Loney is ruled safe, and Blake is awarded third.

baseball: something new every day.

Something not new: Matt Cain 7 IP, 2 runs (1 earned), 0 runs of support.

I was at that game, Borat. A strange play indeed, I've never seen that. From my seat (about 15 rows behind home plate, just to the third base side) I thought it must have been a "fan interference" call or something.

It did look like it was going to hit a fan, but he did a pretty impressive job of quickly ducking out of the way so the ball didn't touch him, and it bounced right back up to Lewis. Bizarre.

Where did you hear possibly out for the season, Borat? He's on the 15 day and is being examined tomorrow.
Yeah, really sucks that the Twins' response to the Casilla loss is Adam Everett, yikes.
These guys bloop and blast their way to within a half game of Chicago.

Thanks Jon, hoping it's speculation only, he's been a blast since May, and is a great kid.

Gardenhire said that Punto and Harris will play most of the time at 2b and SS with Casilla out, so at least Everett won't play regularly.

We'll know about Casilla officially after the exam tomorrow, but it doesn't sound good from the quotes. ""A little tough break for us there and kind of sad for Lexi," Gardenhire said."

Forgetting that Lexi is a porn star's name and not a professional athlete, that doesn't sound like something you'd say unless you feared the worst. (well, i guess death would be the worst, but you get the idea)

Imgaine how good they'd be if they brought up Liriano already, and threw Livan into any one of a thousand lakes.

Don't get me started on the Liriano debacle.
