Re: NFL 2009
I didn't know he had a book but that's not surprising because he has an opinion on everything and a huge willingness to express it, which I think ultimately hurt him as a head coach. I'm sure it would be an entertaining read.

The Lions have allowed 28 first half points and I feel like they're doing okay. That's how low the bar is set.

Brutal officiating, not favoring either team in particular, just terrible.

Re: NFL 2009
Jets looked pretty good in the debut of Sanchez and Rex Ryan. the D didn't allow a point (one defensive TD), and Sanchez was insanely good on third down conversions. he's a little too reckless with the ball just as he's about to get hit, which is going to lead to some problems over the season if he doesn't rein it in a bit, but he looked good. Thomas Jones got stuffed every time all game until he finally broke a couple late, making his stats look better than they should.
Re: NFL 2009
Chiefs looked as bad as advertised, even though the score made it look closer than it really was.
The O-line is as bad as ever. The pass protection was nonexistent, and they helped our backs roll up a whopping 29 yards.
Defense only gave up 501 total yards.
Not quite sure what Kansas City has done to deserve the "professional" sports teams that they have been cursed with.
Currently watching St. Lou/Sea. I'm really hoping to see a good football game this weekend...

Yeah, it's not always obvious what the Karmic angle is. For instance, it seems Detroit fans are being cursed with the Lions for... getting fired from their jobs? Hmm.Mo Noyz wrote:Not quite sure what Kansas City has done to deserve the "professional" sports teams that they have been cursed with.

Yeah, but you've got the Wings and the Tigers to help offset things.
We've got the Royals and the Chiefs.

Re: NFL 2009
I understand that Cutler is a major upgrade from what the Bears are used to but lollers at considering that douche anywhere near to "elite" status. He gets on negative rolls where he puts the ball up for grabs for entire series until he finally gets picked. And can we please stop calling Green Bay "Titletown" unless it's like calling Warren Sapp "Slim"?
If this is Jason Campbell's "make or break" season, Vinnie Ceratto should be polling Shanny, The Chin and Chucky to get some idea who they'd like in his place. Now that Brad Childress has grown a full beard I guess I can't call him Mr Noodle anymore. Or Tobias.

Please note the timestamp on my prior post; before Cutler *really* started stinking the joint up.

Re: NFL 2009
Week one QB ratings:
Jay Cutler - 43.17
Kyle Orton - 100.74
Chicago and Green Bay put on a hell of a defensive showcase tonight. A great way to end Opening Day. The next time they meet the Pack might want to consider using a tackle eligible package the entire game to help that feeble fucker that Ogunleye was using as a worn down speed bump tonight.
BTW, I've been a huge defender of Campbell through his entire mess of a career, but even I have lost hope in him getting any better than he already is.

Re: NFL 2009
Wish I could disagree about JC17, but it was really on him today. The line was most of the problem last season, as any sane observer would agree, but he got the time he needed today. His throws were consistently above or behind the receivers (not to mention the insane pick thrown past the LOS and the failure to step up in the pocket after Samuels drove Osi up high). It doesn't help that Deangelo Hall sucks, but Campbell really needs to blaze against the Rams, Lions, and Bucs.
Re: NFL 2009
dislocated wrist for Urlacher, surgery this week. the curse of Cutler!
Re: NFL 2009
jon, is that Jets defense really legit? I heard a LOT of good things about them leading up to the season, but they really delivered today. Holding that Texans O down like they did is no small feat. I've got Schaub and Johnson starting on my fantasy team. Needless to say, I'm not going to win this week...
Re: NFL 2009
The rare Minnesota trifecta of wins-Twinks, Vikequeens, Gophers all get it done this weekend.

Re: NFL 2009
I wish I knew, I kept asking myself that the whole game. what's even more impressive is that two of their best guys were suspended, Ellis and Pace, Pace for 4 games, Ellis is back next week. Kris Jenkins is a gamechanger at his best, he dominated the first half of last season before he wore down. it seemed like they were tricking the Texans more than manhandling them, but they kept it up the whole game, constant blitzes from every direction. we'll know a lot more after the Patriots game next week, especially now that Belichick will have film from this game.Mo Noyz wrote:jon, is that Jets defense really legit? Does anybody see Michael Crabtree coming out ahead by sitting out the season?

He's out for the year. Lots of other guys down, too, but not known for how long.jon abbey wrote:dislocated wrist for Urlacher, surgery this week. the curse of Cutler!
Cutler was bad, but I think anyone who follows the Bears expects it'll take a while to develop a real offense.
The real game changers --outside of Nate Vasher not being able to cover anyone--was the asinine fake punt. Even if you catch them with 12 on the field, it's still 4th and 7. So bad, especially after they fought back to take the lead.
Re: NFL 2009
It's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of. At least I have to say that the Niners are making the right choice and not caving to this egomaniac.Captain Hate wrote:Does anybody see Michael Crabtree coming out ahead by sitting out the season?

Alls I know is I need to hear/see/read Cappy referring to my favorite three coaches as Taters....
even my wife - who hates Football - loves to point out the Taters when she sees them - Tater East, Midwest and West
too bad we only have 1 now as head coach.....

Re: NFL 2009
That might've been the stupidest thing I've seen in the enneffell for a long time. If Lovey had been fired after that game I would've thought it was deserved; particularly for challenging the play to compound the fucking idiocy. Even if it was the moronic long snapper that inexplicably made the call, who the fuck puts a system in place where that horseshit can happen? Completely unbelievable lunacy.Harold Baines wrote:The real game changers --outside of Nate Vasher not being able to cover anyone--was the asinine fake punt. btw, from lurking around the intertubes last night, there are a lot of non-Bears fans that are hoping Cutler is a miserable failure.
Reynolds, it's been so long that I can't remember who the surviving Tater is: Andy Reid?? I'm kind of in mourning that Martz, the original Tater, is out of the NFL; somewhere there's a potential aerial show and an owner with some vestiges of sanity that badly need him.
