I’m in my 42nd year of religiously watching NFL games. Never in the previous 41 could I have imagined giving up on the game, until now. The officiating has risen to the level of what we’ve grown akin to with the MLB Umpire Mafia.

And now we’ve entered the age of bad behavior being rewarded with monster contracts, and players who can simply will their way off a team they don’t like anymore, contracts be damned.

In an age where bad behavior, petulance, and being hateful has become normalized, I guess nothing should come as a surprise anymore.

If any of you didn’t hear Kevin Harlan’s call of the black cat at the Cowboys/Giants game the other night, do a quick Google search for it. He once again proved he is the greatest play-by-play announcer in the game.

How many NFL teams could honestly say they were (even retrospectively) three-deep at the QB position? Mucking around some stats, and I see that the 1971 Houston Oilers had Charley Johnson, Lynn Dickey, and Dan Pastorini, who each threw for between 18,000 and 24,000 yards during their careers.

I don't think anyone else comes close to having three QBs all with more than Pastorini's career 18,515. I looked at a couple of instances and was surprised to see Steve Bono (who backed up Montana and Young in SF) not only threw for 10,439 yards in his career, but was also 28-14 as a starter.

That, and I suspect you might be able to add the 2016 Patriots to the list before the end of next season, with Garoppolo and Brissett both at 6,000+ yards. Any other teams come to mind?

EDIT: 1974 Washington, with Sonny Jurgensen, Billy Kilmer and Joe Theismann all over 20,000 in career yardage, right now that's three guys in the top 109 for career yardage.

Not that I can think of. Outside of that one great season Bono had in Kansas City, he was a really bad QB. So I don’t think that one counts. Very interesting question, though. Kind of akin to the whole “three Heisman trophy winners in the Baltimore backfield” thing.

All three Niner losses this season have come in the final seconds of the games, two on the final (kicking) plays, today's with a second left.
Two overturned calls on the last two plays. Getting to be like waiting for the scores in a diving competition.

And I’m dealing with an ultra obnoxious 49ers fan at work (though a truly nice cat, otherwise), so I really need to see them go down. I don’t think there is a team in the modern era that could/could have stopped Derek Henry at this point. Right now he is essentially a bigger, faster Earl Campbell. He’s definitely going to steamroll our Chiefs this weekend. God help whatever NFC team faces him in the Super Bowl.

I think the Titans have shot their wad. The Chiefs will be fine. Henry will get his 100+ yeah, but Mahomes will throw for 400+.

Raheem Mostert was cut six times by NFL teams before this season, started the season on special teams, becomes the first player in league history to lead his team in both special-teams stops and rushing yards in a season. And what a day yesterday! (Getting Joe Staley back does wonders for the RBs.)

Only three coaches have reached the Super Bowl in their first post-season appearances -- Walsh, Siefert and KShanahan.

No idea who's going to win in two weeks. Both teams look unbeatable.
