I do, too. He sometimes shows off some of the best mechanics I’ve seen in a long time. While I thought the draft trade was a bit absurd, I really like him. But...consistency.Harold Baines wrote:That's a big "if." and I love the kid.Mo Noyz wrote:If Mr. Biscuit gets his shit together, the Bears will go deep into the playoffs. Saquon Barkley is probably going to start next Thursday night against the Patriots, only 18 days after suffering a high ankle sprain. That will be amazing if it happens.
Re: NFL 2019 Season
Tomorrow, the Pats get the fearsome Redskins--with a third-string QB and a coach who won't make it through next week.
FFS.
FFS.

If he does, that would be great. But it would also make me qestion the diagnosis. Players don’t come back from high ankle sprains that quickly. The G Man wrote:Saquon Barkley is probably going to start next Thursday night against the Patriots, only 18 days after suffering a high ankle sprain. Re: NFL 2019 Season
I think healing techniques for pro athletes are better these days. Luis Arraez, MIN's 22 year old rookie second baseman, sprained his ankle badly in last Saturday's game, he had to be carried off the field and reportedly couldn't walk for a day or two, but six days later he was in the lineup and moving OK if not perfectly. also it helps a lot to be 22, same age as Barkley.
Re: NFL 2019 Season
Yep, definitely get all of that. But a high ankle sprain is a completely different animal than a regular sparined ankle. That was my only point.
But, I suppose the time frame fits the more I consider it.

Large family brunch at a sports bar in Windsor, our 3-month old grandson the center of attention. Six games on the TVs, the Saints' fans had the loudest table, but the Raiders fans had the numbers and the mojo.

Holy shit, SqD, your Niners look tremendous!
Either that, or the Browns remain terrible.
Or, I guess, both.

Re: NFL 2019 Season
First 4-0 start since 1990, when the Niners had Montana, Young, Rice, Lott . . .
The defense has been consistently good, Nick Bosa (overall #2 pick) is a force. And the offense is finding its identity, talented young runners and a line that can spring them, a great tight end . . .

Exciting Jets-Cowboys game. Sam Darnold put a pulse back into the lifeless Jets, who hung on after a great first half. The best team the 3-3 Cowboys have beaten this year is the NY Giants!
Re: NFL 2019 Season
Agreed. That was a FAR better game than I was expecting. This was my first full look at the Jets D. I really like what I saw.
Re: NFL 2019 Season
Gregg Williams sending six pass rushers on the two point conversion was brilliant!
Re: NFL 2019 Season
And the play Dallas had called was abysmal.
BTW, is anyone else starting to find the game unwatchable due to the officiating? I almost bailed on the Chiefs game in the first quarter yesterday due to all the goddamn flags. Then that final scoring drive of the Cowboys with the five plays/five flags bullshit. I wholeheartedly agreed with Nance when he said, “can we please just have a play with no flags?”
DP has mentioned it several times on his show, the cats that do the Around the NFL podcast (for the actual NFL) have mentioned it, and even Brady was tweeting about it during a Thursday night game a few weeks back. It’s really gotten so out of control that it’s making games a serious grind to sit through.

I agree, the problem is worse than ever. The PI challenge hasn't helped, either. The marginal roughing-the-passer calls are most annoying to me.Mo Noyz wrote:And the play Dallas had called was abysmal.

Yep, I couldn’t agree more.
Worse yet, at least in my experience thus far, it seems like the bullshit calls are getting flags, but the more egregious instances aren’t flagged at all.
The overall inconsistency would be tolerable if the quantity weren’t at a record high. I believe there were 25 flags in the Chiefs game.

Re: NFL 2019 Season
to me the worst part is how much kicking decides games, this has increasingly bugged me over the years and is one of the tipping points as to why I have watched close to no football so far this year (I do like college better, I would definitely have watched LSU/Florida this weekend if it didn't directly overlap with game 1 of the ALCS). so I have no opinion on the pass interference challenges as I literally haven't seen a single one yet.
Re: NFL 2019 Season
The completely inoperable onside kick is what gets me.
Re: NFL 2019 Season
The Lions lost the other night because of bad calls. One after another. It was ridiculous.
