Re: 2009 Cycling
thanks for that. the way Cancellara accelerates without leaving his seat is impressive...Antoine wrote:The video is pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Nd13ARu ... r_embedded
Re: 2009 Cycling
Yes, I read an article after the Tour des Flandres (what we see at the end of the video), and in the most difficult part, Boonen was timed in 24s (which was the same time than the winners of the precedent years). Cancellara was timed in 19s.
This article says that it's based on videos and it can be inaccurate, but the difference is still very impressive.
Reminded me this !

Re: 2009 Cycling
pretty incredible run by Cancellara today- though i can't get the video allegations (posted by Antoine above) out of my head whenever he does something amazing like this.
Re: 2009 Cycling
hehe
Sadly, Martin had problems with his bike... he seemed pretty good, too.

Re: 2009 Cycling
Yeah, I think that would have been a real fight. Too bad. This is a TT-heavy tour though, so there are a couple major showdowns between the too. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wiggans beat them both at either though; his form has been absurd this year, and the tour is really his, so long as he doesn't get unlucky.
After those mechanical doping rumors a couple years ago, they were actually checking bikes for a while. Not sure if that's still happening.

Re: 2009 Cycling
Pretty interesting finish today... showing Evans' limits ?
Re: 2009 Cycling
I don't think it would have been worth killing himself over. Steep part wasn't that long, followed by a little too much low grade. Sky would have been all over it.
That said, he certainly doesn't seem to have brought last year's form out this season.
Cancellara can't be thinking about the podium, can he? I know this is probably the most favorable course he'll ever see, but there are still mountains in it. Lord knows he deserves something though , having spent the last two years dragging his competitors to win after win. Pretty lame one by Sagan today.

Re: Cycling
Well, Wiggo (and Froome) just smashed the time trial, so unless he falls down a ravine or something this is now a race for second and third. Hard not to see him wheelsucking Evans/Nibali and pulling Froome into 2nd for the rest of the tour. I kinda wish Contador was here just to give him some competition.
