Man, Westbrook sucked last night.

I asked him a few times to come over, but he didn't seem too interested. he had some life distractions then, though, which might be gone now, someone should maybe ask him again.

He'd be fun to have around now that the Warriors situation is looking up...

No surprise that the Warriors success (and lets not get carried away after less than 10 games) comes after Nellie's departure. Typical Nelson experience: Get quick early success and then gradually tail off as relations with everybody above and below get toxic. His teams play defense as an afterthought at best, which is why after all his seasons as coach, his teams have zero Finals appearances.

That's a good point, Cap.

Nellie's a drunk

Dear Lebron,

Who the fuck was guarding Paul Milsap tonight when he went for 46? Boozer? No, it was Paul Milsap. Paul "mutherfucking" Milsap.

Wow, Indy shot .644 against Denver yesterday, and was 16-30 in three-pointers. Collison was 12-14. That's the kind of defense Denver played when I saw them here a couple of years ago.

I think 72-10 is safe for another year.

Here is the footage of his 11 points in the last 28 seconds of regulation.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCiHOpNJXnc
He had wide open looks on all three threes.

Can't give enough props to Jerry Sloan and the Jazz. That team never gives up and they prey on teams that relax with a big lead. I've seen it countless times with my team. The Pistons will get a 15 point halftime lead and then the Jazz just keep coming until they take over late in the 4th quarter. And it doesn't matter who's on the roster, so I attribute that to Sloan. I'm too young to have watched Sloan play, but Cap has described him as the toughest SOB he's ever seen. The way his teams play, it's easy to see.

Oh, and fuck the Heat.

Sloan was a great defensive player for the Bulls. I agree about his coaching. He was only 46 when he took over Utah from Frank Layden. He's had one sub-.500 season in 22 years as Jazz coach.

If last night was any indication, it's still safe. Despite getting the win, the Lakers showed they will still play down to an opponent's level. If the TWolves weren't so horrible, the outcome might have been different.

He squared off against Wilt and Bob Lanier and never backed down an inch; and those were just 2 games that I saw on television. I'd like to hear Jerry West talk about when he'd play the Bulls because going against Sloan and Norm Van Lier had to be a rough time for a backcourt; although West seems to avoid television exposure more than Bill Russell for example.

JA Adamle at TrueHoop comes in on cue today with this piece on Jerry Sloan.

The Jazz have come back from at least 18 down to win in three consecutive games.

I should know better, but I didn't realize until reading the Adande piece that Sloan had never won Coach Of The Year. That's pretty hard to believe.

I watched last night's comeback. Deron W. was terrific, as was AK-47.

Using Jon's 40-game rule of thumb, the Heat have about 30 games left to show they're a championship team. Those of us who questioned their interior toughness and having enough basketballs to go around are seeing what we expected so far. I think LeBron is the Heat's best player by a fairly wide margin over Wade at this point, but I think his lack of a killer instinct makes him an awkward alpha-dog, especially in crunch time. They need to strike a balance and figure out what role each of those guys needs to play, and when, that they haven't found yet. As for Chris Bosh, he's a bit player on this team. Big Three, my ass.
