He only picks on rookies and little guys, and in the rare occasions he goes after a guy his size, he does so when dude's back is turned and then runs away and hides behind someone else. There are some pretty funny Youtube compilations of him doing this.

Salmons is a pure gunner and he's shooting like Chris Dudley right now. He was great at the end of last season, but if he's your first option, his streakiness is a seriously liability. They don't miss him at all in Sacramento. And they didn't last year either, even though they were turrible.

Gooden may average a double double, but he's awful. He pays attention only about 40% of the time he's on the court and none of the time he's not on the court, doesn't play D, and makes atrocious decisions. Like Maggette, his career has consisted people seeing him a few times and saying wow that guy has potential, then signing him, and realizing what a dog he is. No team he's ever been on has missed him--and that's a lot of teams.

Bogut is very good. And he looks stinky. Jennings is very good and will either learn to shoot or figure out some Rondo-esque way to make it not matter that he can't.

Delfino is a good 3-point specialist, but if you can stop that, he's a non-factor.

Even the Bucks bloggers are down on Maggette. Dude's a proven loser who can do nothing but put up points by barreling into the key and drawing fouls. This usually happens in garbage time, because when he's on the court, there are no offensive plays.
I don't disagree necessarily with everything you're saying, but I still think they have a nice balanced team, all things considered. Again, Salmons is coming back from an ankle injury. He looked really good last year, that wasn't a fluke. Yeah, he's not a #1 option. They don't have one.

But, you're judging them on a high bar. I just think they're pretty fun to watch. Not like they have a chance to do anything real though.

Trust me, everyone around here knows how much I hated Gooden when he was on the Cavs, but he is serviceable in a lot of ways.

Maggete is a pure scorer and getting to the line a lot and making FT's is huge. As a bench player, he's very good.

I think they're also fun because of Skiles. They run a nice offense (when Maggette isn't doing his wild bull thing), and they scrap on defense. They never gave up against Boston, when it looked like they were going to get blown out.

Also, Ilyasova is a nice player, and both Delfino and Jennings can get weird hot and make cuckoo shots.

Bogut does look like he could be really smelly, though.

Knicks were 16-24 on 3's last night. Backup PG Toney Douglas scored 30 points in 31 minutes against the Bulls on the road. The Knicks play the Wiz at home tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing John Wall in the NBA for the first time.

Just unconscious shooting from the Knicks. The Bulls didn't help themselves coughing the ball up so much in the first half.

It was curious -- and I agree with his decision -- that Thibodeau didn't put Noah and Rose back in when the Bulls cut the lead to 9 with about 3:30 left in the fourth. Second half of a back to back tonight, and it's a long season to be chasing chimeras in just the fourth game.

Skiles would have had them back in and pressing. That's part of what makes Skiles' teams fun to watch, but also a reason they can burn out late in the season.

I'm kind of embarrassed that I'm still carrying on this back and forth over a relatively non-existent incident (and I've already deleted one response and might do that to this one) but I think you're being very naive in this. First of all, what Garnett says he said just doesn't pass the smell test on what you'd expect to hear on the court; it just doesn't so I'm calling him a liar. Second, at the very least Doc is being disingenuous while coming to the defense of his player and more likely is lying too. Finally, and back to my original point, Garnett is pretty long in the tooth by NBA standards and still talks shit like an 18 year old punk. I'm disappointed somebody hasn't punched his fucking lights out for it but guys like Maurice Lucas aren't around any more.

I hope you realize that I was half-jesting with you about Garnett. I tend to agree that "you're a cancer on your team" sounds fairly effete as far as NBA on-the-court taunts go.

Awesome. Except I think somebody should have told him that what he should do is STFU for five minutes.

I really wasn't sure if you were serious or not; I went through your responses multiple times trying to figure it out.

Regarding the Garnett-CV incident:

1) What's said on the ice, stays on the ice.
2) If you're offended by something the other guy says, drop the gloves and settle it.
3) Maybe go have a beer after the game.

The Knicks shot the lights out again. They have a deep bench and a lot of three point shooters. Amar'e, no surprise, looks lost on defense. Toney Douglas is developing nicely. Gilbert Arenas played for the first time and scored 18.

After further consideration, I'm with Nags and Dupre. Case closed.

every Heat loss is a victory

so are the Hornets really good - or is Paul better than I think he is?

Noah is turning into a real force although his late foray down the court was misguided but the man can actually now shoot - 10 for 10 from the line and 2 mid range jumpers were ugly but smooth and right in the bottom of the net.

they might be pretty damn good when Boozer gets healthy

also Ray Allen looks younger than he did last year and Baby looks like he is now a sure thing sixth man who is playing strong every time I see him - he is also shooting the ball better than ever - even hitting his free throws which will be huge as he can draw fouls when he can't finish due to his lack of height and spring

Since you've been regularly blasting CP3 in your provincial fanboyism for Rondo, I think it's impossible for that not to be the case.

Just. Call. Timeout.

This team misses Hinrich.

Yeah, Hinrich would help. They've got to stop turning it over so much.

I was trying to think of people who looked as bad taking a jump shot as Noah does, and I had to go back to the 50s and 60s. It's one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. He's a good rebounder, but as a defender he still needs work before he can be compared to Rodman. Big Baby pushed him around last night.

OTOH, Deng played Pierce really beautifully.

Paul does everything Rondo does, expect he can shoot. He can shoot the 3, mid-range, off the dribble, you name it. Probably not as good on defense, and not as good a rebounder. But his steals are off the charts.

I honestly think, pound for pound, Chris Paul is the best player in the league. He hasn't been healthy, but now he is. We should see some great things from him this year.

Speaking of Rondo, somebody told me he was a math major at KY which I thought was really cool. Then I did a google and it said he was a social work major, which sounded more like pre-NBA. Still I ran across things that indicated he was somewhat of a math whiz in high school.

Didn't he leave after his freshman or sophomore year? You really don't get into your major coursework until the 3rd year anyway. he probably hadn't even declared a major yet.
