Yeah, you're right about Jamison. I was wrong at the time. I didn't realize how mediocre he was on defense.
I just looked at his 20 and 10 and was like, great!
I will say though, that they could have made it work, and he could have been a nice addition in the right role. They should have left Hickson in the starting line-up and had Jamison as the second unit stud. And they really didn't have enough time after the trade, due to injuries and whatnot.
But none of that hindsight really matters because Lebron started sabotaging the organization a few years back by not helping with recruiting and leaving his threat of departure out there as a deterrent.
The other thing I've thought about is that now that we know his true nature, you have to wonder if Boozer left because of him.....

Re: NBA 2010-2011
I think Boozer left because of Gund's incredibly stupid fuck up. Boozer did thrive with LeBron but I'm wondering how many other players you can say that about. I haven't agreed with Abbey's claim that the Cavs did nothing to supply enough other talent with him but haven't argued it just because it's my opinion vs his with no way of proving otherwise; but I think LeBron might be the type of player that tends not to make other players look good when playing at the highest level. That hypothesis should get a pretty good testing this year.

Fun game in Boston last night. Milwaukee should win a bunch of games with that group. Definitely one of my favorite teams to watch.

Yeah, my three favorite teams right now are the Suns, the Bucks, and New Orleans.
I love the Suns second unit, and Gentry is really letting them play. Dragic is awesome and Dudley lost a bunch of weight. They play really well together.
NO is quietly 4-0. They have a nice starting 5 now, with Paul, Ariza, Bellineli, and West, and Okafor.
They have some nice additions off the bench with Marcus Thorton and Bayless. I have no idea why Portland gave him away. They obviously aren't very deep, but still a solid rotation.

You are right about Gund's screw-up losing Boozer and probably a championship or two. The Cavs made moves to supply LeBron with other talent, they just weren't the right moves. Mo Williams is no all-star, contrary to the howls of Cavs fans that helped him get on it as an injury replacement a couple of years ago.Captain Hate wrote:I think Boozer left because of Gund's incredibly stupid fuck up. They looked pretty incompetent against Portland. Too many of their guys are one-trick ponies, I'm afraid. Jennings is insanely quick, though, and I love wondering just how bad Bogut smells. And Drew Gooden is just a useless mess. Weird mix of promising young guys and once-promising old guys. And what happened to Salmons? Re: NBA 2010-2011
He can't play the point, and he couldn't beat out Matthews, Fernandez, or Roy (duh) at the two. And his defense never really lived up to his athleticism--he just fouls too much in the backcourt. I love Rex (Bayless' PDX nickname--short arms hurf durf) as a spark combo guard off the bench, but Armon Johnson thoroughly outplayed him at the one. His chief scoring option is the head-down drive, which is great when he gets fouled but if it doesn't, he gets blocked more often than ultra-safe McMillan could ever tolerate. He'll be a better fit in NO.BoBetter wrote: I have no idea why Portland gave him away. They obviously aren't very deep, but still a solid rotation.

Is there a more ignorant cocksucker in the league who should never open his hole than Garnett?

You've got it all wrong, Hate. Garnett was simply offering life coaching to Villanueva.

Doc should stop coming to the rescue of his asswipe players when they get caught in an obvious lie; it makes him look really stupid. Let that dickhole Ainge do that.

Regardless of what was said, trash talk should stay on the court. Guys can say almost-evil things to get people off their games. It should stay in the office.

Why? I think this came up when CV was questioned why he got T'd up; is he just supposed to give a "no comment"?

Actually, he "tweeted" two or three times (I'm not a tweeter so I don't know who he was tweeting to-Iand I feel stupid using "tweet" as a verb), according to the article. Part of me feels as Chris does, but I can understand if Villanueva took it personally, all things considered.

What if it's a white player dropping N bombs? Is that ok as "just trying to get under somebody's skin"? Garnett talks more shit than anybody in the league and deserves to be called out on it rather than hide behind Doc's skirt and the SHF saying everything's FANNNNNNNNNTASTIC.

Not sure what you're talking about here really. Salmons averaged 19 point a game last year and lit everyone up in the playoffs. He's playing the best basketball of his career. He's had a small nagging injury early this year but we're only 4 games in.faster wrote:They looked pretty incompetent against Portland. Too many of their guys are one-trick ponies, I'm afraid. Drew Gooden averages a double double. Not useless. He's a bonehead for sure, but certainly not useless on the right team.
When Bogut is healthy, he's very good. Especially at guarding the paint.
Delfino has played really well since the middle of last year. Same with Maggette.
Jennings is young, and is still learning how to fit in the nba. He shot a ridiculously low percentage from the field in the second half last year. They're probably better off not using him as a 1 or 2 option, until he finds his feet.
They aren't playing very well out the gate, but Chris Douglas Roberts has been hurt, which has hurt their second unit. Bogut is still coming back from a sick injury, as in Salmons.

You ask a cogent question, and I certainly don't want to be the Garnett apologist. Then again, it seems to me that you're completely discounting Rivers' statement verifying what he heard Garnett say. Just because Garnett is otherwise a cocksucker doesn't necessarily mean he's lying here. OTOH if he did say it he should at least be standup enough to admit it, accept Villanueva' apology for provoking said statement, and move along.
Re: NBA 2010-2011
Sticks and stones man. Who gives a shit.
Charlie V does look like he's suffering from a disease of some sort. Plays like it too.
I've heard so much worse on the playground over the course of my life. I've also seen multiple people get beaten to a pulp. I've also witnessed my brother get bullied for an hour by a guy twice his size who just got out of jail, until finally my brother sucker punched him and broke his nose. Then for no reason at all, the guy with the broken nose came after me. I ran.

Re: NBA 2010-2011
Salmons is a pure gunner and he's shooting like Chris Dudley right now. He was great at the end of last season, but if he's your first option, his streakiness is a seriously liability. They don't miss him at all in Sacramento. And they didn't last year either, even though they were turrible.BoBetter wrote:Not sure what you're talking about here really.
Gooden may average a double double, but he's awful. He pays attention only about 40% of the time he's on the court and none of the time he's not on the court, doesn't play D, and makes atrocious decisions. Like Maggette, his career has consisted people seeing him a few times and saying wow that guy has potential, then signing him, and realizing what a dog he is. No team he's ever been on has missed him--and that's a lot of teams.
Bogut is very good. And he looks stinky. Jennings is very good and will either learn to shoot or figure out some Rondo-esque way to make it not matter that he can't.
Delfino is a good 3-point specialist, but if you can stop that, he's a non-factor.
Even the Bucks bloggers are down on Maggette. Dude's a proven loser who can do nothing but put up points by barreling into the key and drawing fouls. This usually happens in garbage time, because when he's on the court, there are no offensive plays.

Re: NBA 2010-2011
I'm kind of embarrassed that I'm still carrying on this back and forth over a relatively non-existent incident (and I've already deleted one response and might do that to this one) but I think you're being very naive in this. First of all, what Garnett says he said just doesn't pass the smell test on what you'd expect to hear on the court; it just doesn't so I'm calling him a liar. Second, at the very least Doc is being disingenuous while coming to the defense of his player and more likely is lying too. Finally, and back to my original point, Garnett is pretty long in the tooth by NBA standards and still talks shit like an 18 year old punk. I'm disappointed somebody hasn't punched his fucking lights out for it but guys like Maurice Lucas aren't around any more.jesus marion joseph wrote:Then again, it seems to me that you're completely discounting Rivers' statement verifying what he heard Garnett say.
