they have had some pretty bad injuries, to be fair. Minnesota might even be worse, they were lucky to beat NJ on opening night and have only won one other game.

Saw the first half of Cs-Spurs last night. Ugly game. SA couldn't hit a jump shot (or a foul shot) to save their lives, and they even made a put-back on the wrong end. Ginobili had one incredible split-the-defense-behind the back drive. And Parker was pretty good. Otherwise, it it kind of seemed like their championship days are over.

come on, Walter, you know better than to draw conclusions like that in early December, especially about the Spurs. could it be that they're only in first or second gear (to be fair, I haven't watched them for a second so far this year)? it doesn't look to me like anyone in either conference can touch the Lakers right now, but it's a long long long way to May/June.

I didn't realize how easy their schedule has been so far, they've only played 4 road games so far: a blowout win in GS, two close OT wins in OKC and HOU, and a blowout loss in Denver.

...and just as I was typing that LA is about to lose to Miami, Derek Fisher nails a three. Still down, 4 sec. left, but fuck, that guy is some strange kind of legend. A legend I hate.

Pure luck, but we'll take it! Really weird game, as far as this season has gone. Wade was off most of the night, but all the other Heat players were making contested buckets all over the place. When Wade did come to life, he had like four ferocious dunks. If the Heat had made their free throws, they would have won handily, but they were bricking from the stripe. Meanwhile the Lakers were in a weird funk offensively and everything was erratic, while the Heat were really hustling defensively. Weird game, lucky win, and not much to take away from it because it was so out of character.

Celtics-Bucks was very entertaining last night. The Bucks are fun team to watch, and Jennings' lefty floaters are to die for.

7 straight wins over the Nuggets for Detroit. The Pistons entire starting lineup was out tonight. No Hamilton, no Prince, no Gordon and no Bynum. And they still beat Denver, thanks in part to Big Ben's 16 rebounds and 3 steals.

Ben Wallace is an amazing story; he's not blessed with a lot of talent, Hell he played for Cuyahoga Community College before Oakley found him and dispatched him to that major power Virginia Union. He's undersized for a center but really can't play facing the basket and anything other than a dunk is a disaster waiting to happen. Yet he hustles his ass off and gets 16 boards against a team with Nene and the Birdman.

I see Charlie Villanueva is fitting in well. What's the deal with Chris Wilcox not playing, Nags? Shit, if you can get him rolling it'll be Dunkfest 2009, made and otherwise.

Shaq really sucks. The crazy thing is that I still think we're a better team with him, especially come playoff time.
