Arab on Radar - Yahweh on the Highway

Opening with a "sometimes, I just gotta jerk off!", this album is filled with absurd sexual vulgarity. The guitars are purposefully crude and grating, using minor seconds and sloppy picking topped off with some ugly distortion. The disgusting imagery blends well with the awful clashing of shit on shit. A great album if you're bored with music or life in general and need to throw up some frustration and inability to achieve your most basic goals. It only seems necessary to end this synopsis with a simple "fuck you, fuck yourself."

Great band, great record. One of the better live bands I've seen, ever. Sadly, Chinese Stars, the band they disolved into, isn't as good. "Saint Peter taught us how to spit, not to swallow" is my favorite lyricline, but I think it's from their other album, Soak The Sadle.

I don't know what to think of your review, I'm not bored with music nor with life. It's an energy record, that much is true.

they have more than one other album. 4 total, i think.

yahweh disappointed me somewhat, soak the saddle was more my thing.

Thanks! I didn't know that, there seem to be 2 albums before soak the sadle came out, available since 2003 on 1 disc on Three One G.

Anyone heard those? Hardly any info on the net.

Three One G also put out a dvd it seems.

There's also a singles record apparently.
I liked rough day at the orifice quite a bit. But it was something like 8 years ago, and didn't played it since then... And I agree with mark that Yahweh or the Highway was deceptive.

the tinny, ultra-trebly sound mentioned in that review is what sticks out for me on that early album (i get them confused). hearing that probably caused me to write them off a bit, but yeah, they were an amazing live band, which made me finally "get" it. there's a bunch of videos on youtube. all the post-AOR bands i've seen/heard aren't nearly as good: made in mexico, chinese stars, and athletic automaton. too bad.

If you like both Soak The Saddle and Yahweh you'd probably enjoy these too. I haven't seen the DVD, from what I read it's mostly tour antics on recorded shaky hand-camera.

I agree that none of the post AOR bads are as good I still find them enjoyable.

I paid a pretty penny for that Oxes/Oxes-as-AOR split. Definitely worth it. I found an interview where one of the Oxes talked about how it came about: smoked a blunt, took some Codeine pills, recorded in a really tinny room. Got the job done i guess.
