Robert Piotrowicz on 7 "inch
I'm writing to inform you about the latest release from Robert Piotrowicz. It's a 7" entitled "Rurokura And The Eastern European Folk Music Research Vol 2." Limited to 170 copies only.
One of the most prolific artists in the Polish experimental and improv music scene, Piotrowicz develops his own solo projects and collaborates with the world's leading sound artists and musicians.
He mainly works with his own live performance setup, developed around the electric guitar and analogue modular synthesizer. He is both an accomplished performer of his own compositions and an experienced improviser with other artists in various instrumental configurations.
His other activities include electroacoustic studio compositions, music for theatre and interdisciplinary art projects and sound installations.
This 7" features three pieces based on folk tunes, reconstructed following the artist's "off the beaten track" research in Poland, Ukraine and Russia.
Each side is noticeably different from the other and brings in something unexpected, new and original. It has a distinct path to follow and turning points.
Thus, on the "Wedding Side", out of a mass of synthetic sounds one can discern outlines reminiscent of folk tunes ( kujawiak and oberek ) , blurred by the hurricane of analogue noise. The "Funeral Side" brings mysterious repetitions which, evolving from faint piano, seem to be about to reach a level of trance-inducing drone mantra, which they never do and the tune remains poised.
Direct pre-orders are being taken now. Also available from the following very soon:
Metamkine (Fra)- to be confirmed
RRRecords (USA)- to be confirmed
Other distributors are very welcome
All the best,
Grzegorz
