I'd like to write something about this recording, then I'm aware this is what people liner note, which sometimes I enjoy reading, from those recordings that I am too young to learn how does it happened, such as those live recording session at the Birdland, or Monterey Jazz Festival, which I have completely not idea what it is, if it is without the liner note attached with the album.
But I am not a fancy-word writer, I am writing this just because I 'd like to break something down, about this recording. As the title suggested, this recording was make before the rain come, and I am not sure if it was raining afterward, anyway it was a casual, not so stress afternoon, I can't remember what I did before or after, probably was reading some articles or reply to some email or messager (yes it is year 2016 if you asked), and somehow I went and tuned a guitar (a one full-step drop D), the one in the recording, which I forgot which one was it, and then I put the H2n zoom recorder on the desk in front of my computer monitor, and the next 30+ minutes was captured. See, there are not fancy story behind the recording either (That' the whole point).
The post-production of the recording happen a few weeks later(?), this time I have a clearer direction of how I present the recording, I want to an album just like those improvisation recording in the late 60s or 70s, those recording make by Derek Bailey and Han Bennink, D.I.Y. released on Incus or ICP. They are, simple, straight forward, and raw.
Well here you have it, listen to it before the rain begin to pouring in. And hope you will like it. And it's just crossed my mind that liner note is not something written by the author / maker themselves? I don't really care.
