Thread for field recording

I'm in Aqaba in Jordan, anyone want a recording from something? Will go to Petra and probably dead sea, have only ediron r09 with the standard mics, no wind buffer. Could maybe fashion a contact mic out of parts if someone has something really necessary for it.

If anyone is interested in cleaner (non-windy) samples of impact noises of soapstone on different types of desert sand/other rocks for use in compositions let me know. I have tons.

Meanwhile, any other field recorders feel free to share around. For myself, I'm very much interested in cobblestone recordings if you have them. Preferably old town areas. Would love some from Tallinn, never got a chance to record anything the times I've been there!

I really quite like less serious field recording from great places.

Why don't you start a blog or tumblr or whatnot with sound postcards. Just a photo and below that a recording, no words or explanations or whatever. Fake postcards allowed. I might want to contribute to something like that (should I find the time, ahem).

I dunno, that kind of sounds like a tumblr template, haha. Do think I've seen some blogs like that before. Also, I suck at blogs.

But as a forum thread I like it, despite the slow pace of this particular subforum. Maybe some day there will even be cobblestone recordings.

I really thought the unnecessarily expensive pistol grip would do more on removing handling noise.
Does anyone have any tips on that? It's the standard Røde pistol grip kind.
