CONTEST: Write a peice under 5 seconds long.

My blog is running a songwriting contest for everyone who's ever wanted to enter a music competition, but didn't have the time or patience. According to the rules, every entry must be under 5 seconds long.

* Note to classical music dorks - By song, I don't mean it has to include singing. I am using the layman's definition of song here. Give me a goddamn break.

The official rules, and how to enter:

I've already gotten many entries. Here are just a few of the ones I've already received:

The best song will be chosen by a completely hijackable poll. The winner will receive a bunch of weirdo music on CD (mostly John Zorn crap I can't sell on ebay), a drawing by me of anything, one dollar for every second your entry lasts, and a whistle that summons me when you're in trouble.

All who enter receive a link on my website and inclusion in a compilation of 5 second songs.

Last year I ran a contest to see who could make the worst noise-themed remix of Soulja Boy. A handful of people entered, and the results can be heard here: http://www.neverheardof.me/2011/04/pret ... album.html

I hope you decide to enter. It doesn't take long to write a 5 second song, and you'll be impressed at how much you can express in 5 seconds.

ENTER NOW: DEADLINE IS JANUARY 1ST, 2012.

Now I pose a question to the board: What is the longest piece you've ever recorded? What is the shortest?
