I am planning to do a split cassette with a noise guy I know who operates under the alias Geiger Retort. My thought was that we could both do a side in which the sound source is mixer feedback, and that's what this is - two tracks of mixer feedback through some guitar pedals... I like some of the textures but I wonder if I'm not selling myself short by not working on editing these improvised pieces into something a little more cohesive...
edit: did reedit/rearrange the raw material above into something that I like better and that makes more musical sense: http://shuntheatavist.files.wordpress.c ... golem1.mp3
I'm normally pretty unhappy with my compositional ability, but the fact that this is all from the same sound source as well as the constant tape hiss / 60 cycle hum sort of ties it all together I hope... Still need to work on my sense of compositional structure.

So I did a bit of live electronics in my livingroom yesterday in honor of it being descending sequence day (in the US anyway): 12.11.10. I decided this would be the first in a series livingroom experiments released to the web and I put up a blog post about it here. So basically its a blog based concept like this thread: a series of posts on recent music making that one just puts out for others to hear. Thus I thought I'd link to it here for all y'all's edification:

Spooky action at a distance (Apple Lossless, mp3)

(on edit: messed up the ALAC link, fixed now)

Me and two of my friends make noisey shit under the name Windmill Moth Glue. we spent two days sat in a dingy shed with the fourtrack set to record anything with a toy keyboard hooked up to two amps on an unpredictable distortion pedal and an octave one, vocals sung through a pair of headphones from the feedback of a grotty old amp, a guitar thats seen better days and rumbling drums and metal bins. the result was a lovely evil sounding fun tongue in cheek noisy album called Wizard Entrails

i have no fucking idea who would be into this shit as it hurts to listen to it but it was a lot of fun to make so would be a shame to keep it to ourselves.

yeaaaaah soooooo if youve got the time please give us a listen atttt http://www.windmillmothglue.bandcamp.com
orrr if you dont want to listen/download the whole fucking thing theres a few tracks up on this: http://www.myspace.com/windmillmothglue
or if your the type to judge an album by one song go on the bandcamp link and flick across until you see the song Grandpa Satan.

so yeah i also started up my little label in august putting out shit im into and im struggling finding any bands in liverpool that dont sound like the fucking kings of fucking leon sooooo yeah would love to hear your shit!

my names jack nice to meet you

From the split CS I did with Geiger Retort. He only gave me 8 minutes of material for a 20 minute side, so I made another piece of music using the source material to fill up the extra space. Two tracks of contact mic taped to a walkman playing his tape, and two tracks of the audio from the tape itself going through some pitch shift, EQ, and delay pedals. Crumbly.

A little recording of my backyard on New Year's Eve. You hear the couple in the flat below me celebrating the new year with some native american inspired drumming and chanting, and the cracks of the fireworks reflected on the walls of the houses around. Happy new year! :)

Constructed entirely from processed samples (including some improv that y'all might recognise), this record is the result of my bewilderingly on-and-off work ethic during 2010.

You can listen / stream here: http://pode.bandcamp.com

Feedback would be lovely, of course.

Thank you kindly! Seems maybe you used some of the same sounds like on the thing you posted a couple of weeks ago, but this here is much sweeter to my ears. (Nothing's Gonna Change is finally on its way to me, btw.)

based around: hip hop / electronic / noise / classical / pop / something like that.

main site with different 'unreleased tracks' and the ability for other musicians to 'follow' my page: http://www.soundcloud.com/dowgadi
main site with my 2 main album releases: http://corncat.bandcamp.com

That's quite nice :)

Do you mind if I ask what you do when you play live? From the gear pics thread I gather that you work with tapes and mixer, so is it mainly some sort of live sound montage, or do you manipulate the tapes somehow?

I think I like that even more, particularly the percussive bits, although a bit more loudness probably wouldn't hurt.
