Do you set up the 4-track with a feedback loop, just use it as a mixer, or use it to play tapes? or all three?

Re: Pictures of your setup
man I love those tascams
Re: Pictures of your setup
for a while i experimented with setting up different types of controlled feedback within and between the two 4-tracks, but i found this to be a crutch, so i removed the possibility to easily create feedback. there are still ways to achieve feedback with the setup (mics, internal buses, handheld recorders), but i try to focus more on interesting source material and arrangement. thus, i spend a lot of time these days perusing thrift stores for quirky tapes.orangettecoleman wrote:Do you set up the 4-track with a feedback loop, just use it as a mixer, or use it to play tapes? or all three?

I don't have a picture, but am very happy with what I'm doing on my 'system'. I play solo and to myself only - which is fine (although I would love to play with multiple people in the future). I really like the results I'm getting from my Korg KP3, input-to-output, plus occasional sampling using the mic-in and a Peavey mic, played through the phones-out into cardboard speakers (from muji).

Ohmnoise

The FX-pedals on the left are not my ones.
The green box is an acoustic-laptop made by Tore. H. Boe
The crosses on the keys indicates that their functions are dead.
This setup was shoot at the last "Unser Industrie"-Festival in Leipzig/Germany
Yes - I do noise!

My 'instrument'. I don't think I've posted this before.
Full-ish view:

Contact mic and jack attached to bridge:

Jack housing and wires shrouded with Russian Orthodox ribbon, acquired from a church in Irkutsk (Siberia)

Contact mic placement:

Depending on how it's used, the string is fully playable with a nice whammy effect possible if you bend the staff itself. At high gains, the entire staff body becomes playable.

Re: Pictures of your setup
I built a time machine today:

It only goes back to 1996...
I suppose that's not too interesting to look at for most... All the same, I recently fell in love with my beat-up DD-3 again. I've been able to get lots of great manual looping and stuttering/cut-up effects in various ways with it, and I discovered a couple of new tricks as well... FUN FOR DAYS (literally).
That pedal doesn't get enough luuuuv... I just wish I had the skills and hardware necessary to mod it so it's more user-friendly.

It's a great pedal - the first one I ever had.
