Forget it is my advice. You haven't got a problem. I've played improv sets that were under three minutes and sets that were over three hours. Just play until you feel like stopping and you're fine.

I think there is a tension between duration and attention span, definitely. Also, I kind of agree with Dan on this, that it's about 45 minutes. Having said that, time is malleable, and attention span is something that can be trained to an extent.
About turning short things into longer things I have two ideas; one is linking similar sounding pieces into larger wholes, the other is juxtaposing dissimilar sounding pieces, to keep listeners on their toes.

Please do not enact these ideas. A thing, if it is short or not, is probably okay the way it is. And if it's not, then more of it probably won't help.
