I know the casting director.

Hey, it was a gig!
I won't vouch for the sequel, but the first Basketcase is a grime cinema classic!
It's more of the same. Just lower budget and generally worse in every way.

this isn't really a movie but its movie related. The star wars holiday special is classic. just got it from the pirate bay and i cant believe i hadn't heard of this before. I can see why the star wars people tried to forget it. if you haven't seen this, go get it. amazing.

Werner Herzog's - Even Dwarfs Started Small
You haven't really been confused about bad movie/good movie titles until you've seen this.

As much as 'midget anarchy' as a concept screams 'bad movie', I think this one's pretty much categorically good.

dunno, I thought it was pretty awful, but I'm not quite as tolerant of Herzog as most around here.

well, considering it's Herzog, that would make Jon's assessment of Even Dwarves a "bad good movie" ... I feel similarly about Magnolia and Terry Gilliam's Tideland.

no, I don't care who made it, my assessment is that it's a bad bad bad movie. I reserve the right to change my mind in the future if I ever watch it again, but to be honest, I can't imagine doing that.

The first thing that springs to mind is Commando. Comedy of the highest order.

Hippies, time travel, the apocalypse, Keith Carradine...directed by Peter Fonda....A real winner..

Red Heat takes the cake for me. but speaking Russian is required.

If you're going to go for Arnie schlock I'd recommend 'Red Sonja'.

I think Jean Luc Godard's Week End falls in this confused category as well, being intentionally made to (at various sections) bore, disturb and declares itself "a film found on a scrap heap".

And btw, i DID really like Even Dwarfs and this movie too. but they are infact films with questionable recommendation to most, if i really wanted to enrage most of my friends I'd recommend either of these two. those are films to be recommended to particularly open minded individuals who aren't constantly looking for an epic or a drama or a comedy or horror or even high brow avantgard to entertain their personal mood at the moment, but people who want to experience cinema away from any preconditions.

I know The Piano is hated severely in many corners though I could never really figure out why. I don't think it's great by any means but found it watchable, some interesting views of interaction between Maoris and Euros, etc. Maybe seeing Holly Hunter and/or Harvey Keitel naked freaked people out?

It's soooo pretentious.

I didn't like anything about it, myself, but if I had to mention a worst thing, I guess I'd say....

the horrible (and horribly anachronistic) piano music.
