I'd like to hear some recs from what's available at Amazon, used or not. I have a bunch and remember loving most or all (the 'Classic Crews' anthology especially), but would like to get more while they're still around.

My recommendation is to get it all...(I'm rather shocked to see how much of his stuff is out of print)...He had his low points, but even they were miles above most...(that said...I love Car, Karate is a thing of the spirit, The Gospel singer, All we need of hell.....all of it really..)

I wish I remember which ones I read, I can only find 'Classic Crews' here.

A Feast of Snakes is my favourite.. RIP. Shame his name was hijacked by a second-rate band.

was just watching 'search for the one-eyed jesus', a documentary sort of thing where he gives a long monologue. surprised to hear his name again so soon, and in such sad context.

I just bought A Feast of Snakes, Scar Lover, Celebration and All We Need of Hell. I'm sure I read at least the first one before, but all four cost $30 combined, so my little tribute. RIP, sir.

Damn I didn't know about this until this thread. Everybody's recs are spot on but I'm surprised nobody mentions "The Knockout Artist". Or maybe they just didn't like it much.

I didn't care for that one as much, no. Feast of Snakes, Body, Car, Gospel Singer and the autobiography A Childhood are my favourites. But the last Crews I read was about a decade ago, so if anyone can recommend something as good and more recent, shout.
