i hate comics (not comedians)

Post by free math »

got any favorite comic strips or single-panel cartoons? i assume nothing worth reading gets printed in the newspapers anymore... so, yes, web comics.

under the alias "kelly," ward sutton has a great satirical editorial cartoon running in the onion, which shows the absurdity of the medium as well as lampooning the preposterous positions of reactionary conservatives:

garfield minus garfield is another pretty funny meta-comic, and exactly what it says it is. it shows jon for the sad creature he really is:

get your war on is decent, but getting played out:

what are some other good ones, political or not? the edgy, the absurd, the dark...

i don't really know anything about comics but I just stumbled upon this site and this seemed like an appropriate enough thread to share: http://ml.hoogerbrugge.com/

comic books and webcomics differ! the artist matt furie(his art here) makes some great comics. not particularly political but absurdist and amusing.

That may be true, but now we have two comics threads.

It doesn't bother me. I'm just trying to help for the sake of organization. Why are you taking that tone?

yeah i'm not talking about comic books, graphic novels or anything with plot arc. just comic strips and single-panel cartoons. that one looks kind of fun, thanks linden.

Didn't mean to sound like a dick. Sorry, fellas.

I agree that there is a difference between a strip and a graphic novel.

Vegetable Mind, where did you find those two strips? I looked for more on his site but found only one-frame drawings.

A Softer World can be amusing and interesting. It's not animated but it kind of sets itself up as a comic strip.

Can someone suggest some good REGULAR webcomics ?

I like, and I'm searching for something like Freak Angels by the great Warren Ellis http://www.freakangels.com/
