a nice companion to Tortoise TNT.. lots of Fender Bass VI activity, and I think it's Noel Kuppersmith on upright bass. sort of a cross between chicago underground and tortoise.. relaxed

Has anyone heard or know anything about the new Beck album "dreams"? Beck.com plus spotify mentioned it to me just now.

I made a 10-hour long playlist of 144 (out of 280) Stereolab songs I enjoy.

I've been quite obsessed with that band for the last three months.

I enjoyed something today I believe I originally received from SqD--Jon Rose's Violin Factory. Not only that, I just wrote an email to Maestro Rose, asking him for permission for my daughter to use a couple of minutes from that disc for a short film she is making (thanks to a grant from the Womens' Film Initiative at NU).

still decompressing with this (Eva-Marie Houben "Air")

the audio sample is the entirety of track 1, a good representation.

Wonderful!!

from a friend/ dancer/ Shakespeare group member:
>>Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger” is set in Nuremberg today, tonight and tomorrow sometime back in the 16th c., before anybody dreamed (or nightmared) about what would become of the place in the mid-20th c.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyypHlrZsgg

Working late tonight, Hans Sachs - shoemaker and poet both - realizes the young guy who sang today did something scary, new and wonderful:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VEaxP0xiU8

As things almost resolve, tomorrow morning both pairs of boys and girls realize they’re going to get each other at last because Walther’s new song will win the singing contest. But poor generous Hans Sachs will be left alone.<<

A bunch of Wire albums, including:

Image
Object 47 (2008)

Image
Red Barked Tree (2010)

Image
Change Becomes Us (2013)

Image
S/T (2015)

Really dug these records, though the worse out of the bunch I'd have to say would be Red Barked Tree. The other three are so nice.
